Dem "Scam Likely" calls..

I have some kind of thing turned on that blocks numbers from people who aren't in my contacts.

But if you're job-hunting you can't do that. Or if you work in a job where clients need to call you. Then it really sucks because you just have to live with the scam calls.
But have theve come up as scam likely but it was something you needed to answer?

Even though I only made this thread hours ago, "Scam Likely" is the same as cleaners you see that say "Kill 99.99% germs."

A loophole in case they werent right.
that is not how those statements work or why they are made.

products labeled disinfectants are regulated by the epa. manufacturers provide data for disinfectant efficacy over specific subsets of microorganisms and quantify their ability to reduce those populations under the conditions they suggest the product be used (concentration, time exposure, surface type, etc.)

if it says 99.99%, it means it was able to reduce some subset of microbes population by at least a log(4) fold under those conditions.

here is an example for a lysol product.

you can see for this one product, their data supports the claim

"kills 99.999% of (Enterobacter aerogenes) (and) (Staphylococcus aureus) in 30 seconds"

while only claiming

"Kill(s) 99.9% of E.coli O157:H7 in 30 seconds"

those claims are based on data. the product absolutely does not kill 100% of the tested microorganisms in the time frame suggested. And it certainly doesnt klil 100% of all microorganisms that exist and werent tested.

The data for this product saw a >log(3) fold reduction in e coli populations and a >log(5) fold reduction in staph populations in 30 seconds.

I took Food Science too in college. Bad analogy for a "most" vs "all".

ive never taken a 'food science course'. i have a phd in chemical engineering and do work in risk mitigation for chemical plants. i have no idea what your comment about most vs all is supposed to mean.

Only answered one time, and it was some people pretending to have a relative captive. Send money or else type of situation. Pretty broke at the time, so thought a relative might be effed. Tried to get a hold of the relative and couldn’t, so I called the cops, who reassured me it was probably a scam, though I couldn’t be certain at the time.

So yea, I don’t answer those calls anymore. Just not worth it, even if I get to mess with them too. Best just to block them as they come.

Stop giving out your number on the internet to sites. I never get these calls anymore after changing numbers and not sharing phone number.

Yeah.

Haanji they are quite annoying yaar but if you send to me your telephone number and email address I will fix this

For some reason I always get a tonne of them whenever I enter and leave London...
