Cyril Gane is authentically nice, authentically confident.
Jon Jones is an life-time-proven jerk, pretending to be nice.

Jon Jones seems strangely fat, strangely introverted, and strangely shook.
Cyril Gane is legit huge, and legit calm going into this.

In summary, Jones is a fat, old, skinny guy trying to convince himself he's a truly muscular heavyweight. He's not.

Jones' little bitty head and neck (when standing next to Gane) = Gane KO w/in the first two rounds.

I don't think Jones is convincing himself that he's muscular. He even said 'this is not a body building competition'. He knows his physique but I think it's ideal for the weight class. Functional muscle and, to be fair, he looks physically better than most heavyweights.

I agree with everything else though. It's hard to pick against Jones but I'm doing it for tomorrow. Think he will have trouble taking a heavy guy like Gane down.

It is a weird fight to pick. Logically there is no reason to think Jon wins. He hasn't been effective using wrestling in years, he has looked significantly more human since his ped issues and he is old, coming off 3 years off and going up a HUGE weightclass jump against a very mobile athletic guy who matches or outmatches Jon's physical attributes, which have been his key to success his whole career.

But ... it is Jon Jones and he has fought with a belt on the line 15x in a row and had his hand raised each of those times.

I don't know what you're on about. This is them side-by-side at the ceremonial weigh-ins.

Jones has slightly more of a gut and maybe slightly smaller arms, but otherwise looks every bit Gane's equal or superior in terms of sheer physical build. It should be a very interesting fight.

Yeah, part of me is in denial, thinking Jones will win again (even if it's a close/controversial SD) because he's Jon Jones. I've been watching him win since he beat Stefan Bonnar over 14 years ago.

Another part of me realizes that age and wear-n-tear catch up to all fighters unless they retire relatively young (like Khabib)...and this is likely the end of the road for Jones. He might have won another close fight or two at LHW...and he'd probably beat Gane if he were 10 years younger mostly due to his wrestling...but this ain't the same Jones. And he's fighting a dangerous, talented HW who's in his prime. We'll see.

Yea, pretty much man. Excited for this one. Really have no clue what's going to happen. Big fight feel!

Jon is a crafty motherfucker.
Cyril is not a mean violent asshole.

That is the X factor.
Jon will cheat to win.

If things aren't going his way Jon will stick his finger in Ganes eyes. He may also throw a groin strike or illegal knee or elbow.

I expect that weird kneecap kick Jon does, as he really should try to limit Ganes mobility.

Also, the ref WILL let Jon get away with any of the fouls I mentioneed above without repercussion and I would expect Sal D'Amato type sheisty refs to score any remotely close rounds for Jon. The UFC has a lot of promotional money invested in Jon over the years and they are clearly trying to angle for a Jones vs Stipe Goat vs Goat international fight week super fight

Well the thing will be:
1) He hasn't fought at all in HW, so even if he had been doing sparring, actual fight may be different and he has to pace himself not to gas.
2) He has problems against people his own size, because he's a distance fighter. Would he be able to change his normal gameplan and fight in short distance, wrestling and taking the other guy to the floor?
If he doesn't close the distance, and the other guy is as good striker as people are saying... Then it won't end well for Jones. It could even be a short fight.

That is actually my favorite scenario.

Really anything could happen here.

It could be razor close, or either guy could absolutely steamroll the other and none of those outcomes would surprise me.

I am hoping it is violent and conclusive.

Those rookies cant realize how good bones is lol
Is or was? He was great in his prime. He looked he was still a Top 5 or 10 LHW in his last few fights, but not nearly as dominant as his former self. And now he's fighting a very good HW. I mean if anyone could pull this off it's Jon Jones, but his last few fights weren't convincing...and he's had a long layoff since then.

Nobody knows how this fight will go on I dont say Bones wins easily but if you count out him that means you live in your little pink dream world

This shall be a fun thread to bump when Jones destroys Gane

i think history shows that when the ground game is lacking, and their is a fighter who is superior in it, that fighter wins. all MMA fights hit the ground. we know gane is not a wrestler. he is a striker. perhaps one of the best at UFC HW. I think this will either play out with jones by pure domination. or it will be a cro cop vs nog type of fight. gane might light up jones. land great kicks. it might be all over. but that dog in jones will not concede. and when it hits the ground, gane is just to inexperienced there. he will succumb to ground strikes or a late submission. tomorrow night will not be ganes night. the ground game is just too much of a gaping hole.

The interesting thing about that "gaping hole" is that conceivably, Jon could lose 15 or even 20 minutes of this fight, but still win if he can get Gane down at any point.

Jon has previously been good in the 2nd half of fights/championship rounds, Jon says Gane slows down, which he did lose round 5 against Francis...

Whatever the outcome, may the Just Bkeed God bless us with a decisive outcome.

agreed, i can totally see a cro cop vs nog scenario where somehow gane is just lighting up jones on the feet, and then the moment it hits the ground in the later rounds, we see jones ground prowess. i think gane will slow down eventually. gane will not be able to defend a takedown eventually. but like jones said, its going to take a couple of rounds to tire him out. i also hope we get a decisive outcome. whatever happens, happens. either jones cements himself as a modern day goat, or we see him shadow realmed, long over due.
