"You must drink your creatine immediately, it is not stable; in water, it will convert to creatinine, which in that dosage (the 5g of creatine you took), is toxic."

if it's true then, does that mean that when using a PWO drink with 5% creatine for example

if you wanna sip half PeriWO and the other half PWO then it will turn into creatinine while you are working out? (hence you drink the toxic creatinine PWO)

I don't think it's an issue.

Creatinine is always present in your body anyways, and I don't think the small amounts that get broken down while in your shake for those few hours will make a significant impact on your health.

EDIT:
Forgot to mention, you piss it out anyways, so meh.

just mix it when you are done working out, i dont know the chemical properties of creatine as to when it converts, just use some common sense, and dont mix it the night before, etc.

as far as I read it's only mildly toxic. but i never know the problem with this anywayz....just mix the powder pwo or in the morning or at night.....and down it....

"Toxic" is kind of a relative term here. Yes, if you mix creatine and water and let it sit, it'll break down into creatinine, which is what naturally occuring creatine phoshate breaks down into. Creatinine is a waste product that is filtered via the kidneys.

But 5 grams in water? Yeah, that's not toxic. That's just a waste of creatine.

If you're going to take it, mix it up and take it right away, versus throwing it into your gym bag to sit for an hour.

I always just chug my creatine once i mix it, just because i dont like the taste of it and would rather not sip it.

I usually eat the creatine whole and wash it down with water.

It's more efficient that way. Tastes horrible though.

....Madmick. I'm COMPLETELY at a loss for how to respond to this.

Yeah, I don't really want to be around when Mick gets home.

I don't know how relevant this is in the Great Creatine Debate

Creatine Monohydrate cannot enter the body in water alone.

So what you're saying man is that if an individual was mixing the creatine mono into water alone to drink, the creatine would not be absorbed?

???

Mick said that creatine transport is dependant more on sodium, hence the monohydrate. I've been taking it with water for a while now. Damn that placebo effect.

in pills they can

Incorrect.

Right.

Mick said that creatine transport is dependant more on sodium, hence the monohydrate. I've been taking it with water for a while now. Damn that placebo effect.

If I'm not mistaken Mick mentioned a specific type of sodium that was a more efficient delivery agent than sugar. However, I'm not sure the trace amounts of sodium that are in normal water would do the trick. I don't recall Mick making the statement that just using regular water with creatine monohydrate was fine, as opposed to a type of sodium being better at delivering the creatine to the cells than sugar.

To my knowledge the only creatines that have self-delivery agents efficient enough to mandate they only be used with water are the Esterified versions or higher (like the Alkalyn).
