Could Khamzat takedown Yoel Romero at will?

A question keeping me up at night.

But yes he could.

Look at Romero's career and see how many guys have had success taking him down. Yoel's scrambles are top tier.

People saying Yoel Romero has bad wrestling on this board are really dumb. It's one of the worst talking points on Sherdog. Romero uses his wrestling perfectly for his preference for fighting. His skill in chain wrestling is just as good as Khazmat's.

Yoel Romero doesn't have a good ground game, that is the main reason why he does not take people down much. His MMA wrestling is absolutely elite. There are plenty of highlights of his wrestling on YouTube and it's incredibly dynamic while also being very fundamental (just like DC and Khazmat).

Yoel wasn't an easy fight for anybody. That would be a great match up. As other said, Khamzat would probably take him down quite easily, but not sure how easy would be to keep him down repeatedly round after round. Especially if Romero drilled just wrestling in the training camp it wouldn't be that easy to take him down either.

I might be wrong but didn't Derek Brunson took a youngish Romero down?

Prime Romero KO's Khamzat in the 3rd round after being taken down a couple of times.

Romero isn't impossible to take down but controlling him on the grouimpnd when he's fresh is basically impossible.

Yoel Romero was an absolute tank of a man and has super strong takedown defense. TD defense percentage in MMA is very high. Would Khamzat be able to take down Yoel at will in his prime?

Keep in mind he is an Olympic silver medalist in freestyle wrestling, a World Champion, and a multi-time Pan American champion. He was the 1999 World Champion (five-time medalist at the World Championships), the 2000 Olympic Silver medalist, a three-time World Cup winner (six-time medalist), the 2003 Pan American Games Gold medalist (bronze medalist in 1999) and a five-time Pan American Champion.
I tend to believe he could. Yoel's MMA wrestling defense has never impressed me. We've seen him get taken down by a good amount of fighters.

Yes he would. Yoel has been taken down many times.

great video, can't do cliffs now but worth the watch, a lot of interesting things he had to say.
