Depends what your goals are. If you want to look lean and fit, than MMA can give you that. But if your looking to have ''big muscles'' you have to lift, there's no way around it.

What if i build up to 170 lbs and then do less weightlifting and by keeping a high calc diet would i lose weight ?

wow, you shave your chest?? I can't see a single hair!

If I posted a pic of my chest, people might confuse it with that of a gorilla!

On topic, do both!

You could gain muscle, but if you have useless bodybuilder's muscles then you might lose mass if you make a serious transition to MMA training. It's not necessarily for the worse tho, your muscles will become quite effective and sharpened, most MMA fighters are surprisingly strong.

I know it will sound lame, but I would not suggest building too much muscle mass at 15, it could alter your growth. Also, usually bodybuilding wont help you in MMA or athleticism, your muscles become really ineffective for the demands on fighting.

Simply adjust lifting weights to fit your MMA goals. Don't worry, you will look good anyway.

That all depends on how many calories you are taking in vs how many you are burning.

If you are keeping your calories at a high level and still doing moderate weight training, then you should be able to keep the muscle you have and probably make some gains considering your age.

Honestly you have the perfect body for mma. Low bodyfat and just enough muscle. If I were you, I would only lift twice a week just so you can have strong grappling.

It's not like id always be 15 by the time im 170 lbs id probably be 16 or so, and what about powerlifting type of training ?

He's 15. The chest is one of the last places to get hairy after puberty.

TS, I recommend training MMA and doing a 2 day a week heavy weight lifting program, maybe 3 days tops. Just listen to your body; if you're sore, do less. Eat big too—at your age you can pretty much eat anything you want, and as long as you get those calories and lift/workout..you will grow.

If you want "MMA" muscles, you can strengthen them with MMA. If you lift, you can build "lifting" muscles that would go unused in fights and sap your oxygen/cardio. Mass isn't necessary, but your muscles will get stronger with training.

On second thought, this. I skipped the fact you are still only 15.

TBH it depends on your goals, if you want to look like a a beach muscle guy with short thick muscle bellies you'll have to continue to work the weights. That being said when I was younger and maintained around 5'10"@185 with low body fat I had more the fighters look. At that time I had a heavy mix of weight lifting, calestenics, and sports. As I got older and time became more of an obstacle with working out thus I ran and played sports less my weight shot up to around 210 or so, I was built less like an athlete or a fighter, and maybe a little too musclebound. You look young, have a fast metabolism, and have a good base to work with... Good luck.
