Man he battered Kopylov body. Some of the best bodystriking in MMA we've seen in a while. THUNDERING body kicks, VICIOUS body punches, teeps too. Dunno if Costa ever looked this good pillar to post following a technical game plan while still being explosive and powerful.

Unfortunately that's been the theme his whole career with round 3s. Only time it wasn't the case was against Marvin at 205. But Costa would never want to compete with the top LHWs lol.

Correct. He's powerful but too slow.

Might be, but he said that he was sure he took the first two rounds and his team told him to take it safe in the third. That’s why he was coasting and not attacking that much.

And not without evidence either. Everybody he's fought that's held the belt (Adesanya, Whittaker, Strickland) he's lost to all of them. Personally I don't think you can count ancient chinless Rockhold.

His body work was brilliant -- by working the body, it opened up a lot of offense to the head and he was able to stun Roman on multiple occasions. I love a good body shot -- kudos to Kopylov for being tough and lasting all 3 rounds.

He needs to add another dimension to his arsenal, imagine he complemented his striking with Ricardo Arona level, smothering wrestler type grappling. Not as exciting perhaps but it would show higher fight iq since he would get the wins he needs to get to the top and fight the world beaters again

Are ranked LHWs considered top LHWs? Because I don’t think Costa would worry much about fighting Bogdan Guskov, Alonzo Menifeld or Johnny Walker



Actually there are some interesting match ups for him if he decided to go up. He just made weight, fought and won in MW so it’s not something I’d think too much about.

It would be interesting to see Costa at 205. He may have better cardio and more power at that weight.

His grappling is still somewhat unknown but seems decent. Never been subbed or held down much by anyone.

If he had more aggression and power he'd kind of be like a pride Wanderlei in that regard. Excellent sub defense, good TDD, solid chin, and not afraid to bang.

The Costa that walked down Romero was legendary.

Good lord Costa looks so slow. Its like he needs 10min to load up on anything, its so bad. He’s lucky the other dude is atrocious and was just standing there like a retard.
