It doesn't surprise me that she trains though, she's athletic as all hell and has a better body than most women in their 20s.

Yep, and if she's new to competing not performing up to your skill level is pretty common. She still dominated the match, just couldn't force a submission.

I originally thought the same thing, I think in a lot of competitions (not just jiu jitsu), women's divisions are shallow so such mismatched matches exist. Hell, the UFC has mismatched fights all the time. Although Cory Chase being ranked that much higher than her opponent only barely helped her.

Good passing but her top game sucked. Once she got to side control she lacked any kind of movement in response to the white belt’s effort to recover guard. Totally stagnant. Same on mount. She got reversed too easily.

But it could just be tournament jitters where you get a good position and hold on for dear life.

She is awful for a purple belt. In guard, she didn’t even think about addressing the grips. No type of passing technique being used just jumping around someone’s legs who has no guard. In side control, she was heavy at times but never killed her opponent’s hips. Her opponent reguarded too easy. A white belt should not be able to create space so easily against a purple belt. They both look like whitebelts. But she looks like one with a few more months of experience. I call BS on her belt level.
