Contact Lense getting knocked out during your match...?

I'm wondering what your immediate plan is if a contact lense is knocked out during competition? Do you just close one eye and play defense until you can get to the corner and tell your trainer to take out your other contact? (if you're boxing like I am, you can't untie the gloves fast enough to get a hand free yourself) Do you leave the contact and box with the altered vision? Close one eye?

Since I've been frequently sparring in january, this has happened to me only a few times. But it happened yesterday in sparring, and as it is my fight week, I wanted to have a plan if it were to happen live.

After this happened I tried boxing without contacts, as my coach said "How blind are ya? The guy is only 2 feet in front of you!" I didn't feel as crisp in sparring, and I tried the past couple days going through my boxing workouts without contacts and I just have not felt as engaged. Something is off. The peripherial vision not being as sharp, or just glancing into the distance and seeing blurriness is irritating and somewhat draining. Because this has been such a rare issue out of all of my rounds of sparring, I'm thinking it will be best to wear my contacts, and just have a planned course of action so that I do not completely panic if it happens on saturday.

Hope someone can speak on this and maybe share some insight that my four eyes are missing.

Lost a bunch in sparring and match.

In sparring I have somebody pick it up and save it for after. In amateur boxing if the referee sees it he stops the action to pick it up.

Losing 1 contact doesnt really bother me tbh

In training ill just stop and put it back in. In fghts (MMA) ill either just fight with one in or take the other one out in between rounds. Never thought to close one eye haha.
There's not much to do for us guys with mole eyes ...

I used to compete wearing contact lens. Sometimes I'd lose one or both. Let them go you're not getting them back. It's too late. You'll never find them.

This is why you have a pair of backup glasses.

Then I started fighting without wearing contact lens. And that solved everything and is pretty much the only consistent solution.

I came to the same conclusion

I've also looked up PRK eye surgery though. Maybe one day.

Happened to me during sparring when I wore contacts, especially if I got nailed by a glancing hook.

Had LASEK eye surgery about a month and a half ago, was supposed to take 3 months to recover but the optometrist said I should be ready to go in another week or 2 as it's healing quicker than expected. It's made a massive difference to my regular sight so will see if it changes anything during sparring.

In my first boxing match, both of my contacts were knocked out. It does suck, but I was able to just shrug it off. I know others in the gym would just train without them, but I always prefer to have them in. Having daily lenses has been a blessing, and I would probably suggest to learn to fight without them in if you have regular lenses. I often spar with a facesaver, as I have never lost a lens while wearing one. It's a good option if you don't mind the downsides of using such style of headgear.

I wear glasses as my eye sight is horrible. I can't drive or anything without them, and I don't wear contacts at all. Never have. I just take my glasses off when training and put them in a hard case for protection and just train to the best of my abilities and spar as best I can without them. Makes judging distance harder for me.

I would NEVER close one eye. It's better to see a blurry punch or kick coming at you than not to see it at all, and your opponent will likely try to clobber you on that side if you signal that there's something wrong with your eye.

It sounds as though your vision is a little better than mine, and I decided long ago to never wear my contacts for training, sparring, or fights -- they always got knocked out too easily. It would be nice to be able to identify people at a distance, or to see instructors, equipment, the clock, etc, clearly without walking up close to them, but those things aren't really necessary. Just being able to see my partner or opponent is good enough for me.

I'd keep trying to get by without them if I were you. Unless I'm overestimating your visual acuity, you'll get used to it.

HATE YOU ALL WITH A PASSION THAT BURNS MORE THEN MY DICK WHILE PEEING. Seriously, you guys have A+ fucking awesome vision. The past two times I sparred with my buddy he managed to knock out my R contact which is a -9.00. Blind as a bat and theres no point in fighting when this happens. Can only end up doing harm by taking a nasty shot I cant see.

You should have stopped masturbating.

Holy fuck, -9.00? Your opponent should just box with a blindfold to make it even.

-9.00 goddamn!!! I am wearing a -1.75.....I feel I should have never made this thread and just worn my damn contacts in my match this weekend and kept it movin.

LOL @ the people commenting on what they do when their contact gets knocked out in sparring. Obviously you can stop then. I was only asking about live action match when the guy is trying to beat you.

Thank you.

I have horrible eyesight, so, used contacts in sparring and in fights.

Sparring is not an issue because we just stop and I get my contacts fixed....fights are another story

I usually make sure to wet them by closing my eyes a few times between rounds. In a MT fight that i was winning mainly by seeing and slipping punches, my contacts got dislodged and I couldn't see punches coming anymore.....luckily it was in the final round and I resorted to clinching the rest of the way through.

If I continued fighting, I would probably look for corrective surgery assuming that is is okay to fight after that
