Here's a chance to see a comet with the naked eye:

I remember Hale Bopp being visible for weeks about 25 years ago and it was pretty awesome. Haven't seen one with the naked since. But, I'll be looking for this one the next few days.

No one wants to see a comet? It's not that often you can see them with the naked eye.

Take a picture of it,

It'll last longer...

Meh. They're always saying it's the next Hale-Bopp and I just end up looking at a faint fuzz through my binoculars.

I need someone to show up at my house on the night..and point my stupid head in the direction...I can never can find that cosmic shit myself..

I almost bought an 8 inch computerized telescope that can be set up outside and connected to a monitor inside and be controlled from a computer. I was interested in astronomy in my school years but it required being outside at night and depended so much on the weather. The best viewing was on cold nights then just looking in the eyepiece would fog it up. You could put a camera on for long exposures but then had to wait for the film to be developed and it was expensive to get large copies.

Here's an update for this week:

"NEOWISE will be brightest about an hour and a half after sunset between now and Sunday. Look to the north-northwest and it should be about 10 degrees above the horizon. It will come closest to Earth on July 22. More good news: The sky will be good and dark because the moon is in crescent mode and won’t cast light that could ruin your view."

“An hour after sunset” is so vague. Depending on one’s latitude at this time of year that could mean a lot of different things. Sunset here is like 10pm.

Where's here?

It's around the Big Dipper so just see when that's visible.

Well it's 2020 so I assume this will crash into Earth soon. Still I'm going to try and see it tonight if the sky is clear enough
