There is a lot of hate for Colby and haters often discount skills because of their extreme bias. Covington's striking has improved dramatically over the years. He stood with Usman, Woodley, Lawler, RDA and Masvidal and landed multiple combinations on all five. For those who think Khamzat is going to walk through Colby, you need to check you bias as it will be a competitive fight. This is an interesting video (I did not make)

His technique has improved a bit but he has no power at all. It's probably better for him to be spending as little time possible in striking exchanges to avoid getting stung on the feet by someone with harder punches.

Colby's mean words get people triggered to the point where they just disregard his skills as an elite fighter

Khamzat has a very small chance to catch Colby but if he doesn't....

Colby will just drown him with his pace for an easy 50-45 UD

Would look worse than the Mas fight

Khamzat was gassing badly against a former LW in a 3 rounder which was mostly a striking match where he got rocked and dropped by a former LW who he had a massive reach and size advantage over

Khamzat needs some 5 round experience before taking on an elite fighter who can strike and wrestle for 5 rounds like Colby

The UFC isn't really confident about booking this fight right now as they know the truth that Khamzat ain't ready for the truly elite fights at WW like Colby or Usman

Had Khamzat just destroyed the former LW in Burns easily then they would have booked the Colby fight right away

He triggers people so bad they are blinded.

I'm not suggesting Colby has Petr Yan's boxing or Adesanya's diverse kicks, I saying Colby's striking is similar to Khamzat's and those that think Khamzar will walk through Colby are in for another awaking.
Same goes for people saying he will 50-45 him.

I see him as a WW version of Michael Bisping in striking. Lots of volume with good techniques but no power. Maybe Colby will have his Rockhold KO moment or a H bomb recipient moment soon

When Robbie tired Colby landed a bunch of hard shots:

It was A LOT of wrestling and point scoring up against the fence. But I will say Robbie didn't do much in that fight either.

Colby is one of the best strikers in the welterweight division. And yes, he's improved significantly over the last few years. I think now that fighters know how big a takedown threat he is, that's opened up his arsenal on his feet and I think Colby knows that and is why he's put so much more emphasis on his striking.

The only fighter who I think strikes better is Usman, and it's the same story with usman as covington. I think Colby may even have a little more skill set standing, but I think Usman has a little more power and that's obvious over his last few fights.

And honestly I just don't care about bias. I didn't really like usman but he's good I noticed that a long time ago, and I think he's earned a lot of peoples respect, mine included. I actually like Colby. That has nothing to do with bias if you ask me. He's good, let's all give props the the good fighters.

It's crazy how much guys don't realize this. People like Max Holloway, Diaz Bros, Colby Covington they aren't just muscularly retarded from birth man that makes no sense. They are making a strategic decision to relax and not put 100 percent into each punch because it is their gameplan and style to drown the opponent with 500 volume punches a round. This style allows them to outlast their opponent because a lot of guys get desperate and start winging haymakers to try and earn their respect and either hurt them or just slow them down and back them up.

It's a bit relative. Colby would get knocked out if he didn't mix in his wrestling against rda, Lawler, masvidal etc. His success comes from shooting in middle of combinations and grinding his opponents out.
Against khamzat there are unknowns such as how would wrestling exchanges factor into the fight. If there are no wrestling exchanges, then there is a good chance khamzat punches down the middle and intercepts Colby who likes to throw looping hooks from way too far. Would khamzat hit air as Colby runs around? Maybe. Interesting fight.

Gilbert the former lw dropped Usman but Colby couldn't.
This former lw narrative is dumb. Gilbert is the biggest puncher in that division.
Khamzat didn't use his reach consistently and made the mistake of pocket boxing with shorter Gilbert. Colby and Usman would be left unconscious if they did that with Gilbert.
