Phil Brooks, aka CM Punk took the UFC by storm in 2015 when he announced his intention to fight. Few believed he was serious. Not since Brock Lesner had a WWE superstar made the jump into the eight sided circle.

Punk faced a tough adversary in his debut against Mickey Gall, with what might be described as an unfortunate off balance slip, taking his power punch off target and resulting in a take down. The star showed heart, and alpha-like qualities after the fight as he imparted wisdom on the young Gall in a prolonged post-fight embrace. Punk did not stop there.

In Punk’s next fight against Mike Jackson, Brooks lasted the entire 3 rounds, showing heart. We don’t know how good Mike Jackson really is, for Dana immediately cut Jackson out of frustration for beating his beloved star. But over time, Dana’s heart warmed. On May 1, 2021, Jackson makes his return to the eight sided circle facing hot prospect Dean Berry. We get to finally answer the question everyone has: how good is Mike Jackson? And with that, we will finally be in a position to judge just how good was CM Punk?

#NeverForget
That was just ridiculous. Even in my first BJJ Class i didn't do something as dumb as that, did he actually think he could submit someone that way?

If the Gall fight had happened after McGregor beat Cowboy I think he could have game-planned what Conor did after fluffing the swang.

I don't recall how that all went down anymore but I think so - either way it was a priceless moment as he hung there for a decent bit.

Unfortunately everybody that'll never fight has already made their mind up about Punk. He's the most disrespected fighter on here... When... in reality, he would smash 60% of the people that bash.

But, prior to knowing much about him, I would like to think Mike Jackson is a super solid fighter.

CM Punk vs Mike Jackson set such a low bar in terms of fighting skill and athleticism that you'd have to go watch the single-digit UFC's to find anything that comes close to matching it. And you'd have to look hard, because I think a lot of those early UFC guys would have wiped the floor with both of them at the same time.

They say "The 3rd time's a charm". I think he's only on strike 2. I think he should get one more chance (preferably against someone like Sage Northcutt). Fight me.
