I rewatched all of Chuck Liddell's fights recently (except the Vale Tudo fights) and I noticed that this fight between Liddell vs White looked strange. Here is what I have to say: first of all Vernon White started the first round brawling as if there was no tomorrow - he went in there "I knock you out or you knock me out" style right in the first round, which is something you basically never see in a UFC fight. Then White got caught and the fight should have been stopped at least twice in the first round but for whatever reason the ref didn't stop it. (I also noticed that in other Liddell fights: vs Tito Ortiz and in the 2nd fight with Jeremy Horn - those fights should have been stopped a lot earlier)
Back to the Vernon White fight: So the ref doesn't stop the fight and then Vernon White survives, then Chuck does something which looks strange to me: he doesn't look fatigued or as if he had punched himself out, the fight is still in the first round, and Chuck looks up at the clock when 1 minute is left in the first round. Then he throws a punch which seems to be "pretty ordinary" and Vernon White gets knocked out by that punch but he is not going down unconscious, he is kinda holding his head and it just looks weird.
And I do know that some knockouts just look weird, I just noticed the whole sequence looked strange. Chuck looking at the clock and then knocking White out with the very next punch which looked a lot weaker than what he connected on him earlier in the round.
Your thoughts?
