Fight was one of the most epic, movie like fight. It was so insane and surreal that it looked like a final fight in a season finale of a popular series or movie trilogy. Everything from the freaky body slam to Lytle clapping and congratulating Lawler for dropping him on the floor. The exchanges and everything from it being completely action packed on the ground with Lytle going for leg locks out of nowhere to scrambles and exchanges during transitions. First round was ALL ACTION NONSTOP from start to finish!

Fight is on YouTube with barely any views:

This is like the MMA version of Hearns vs Hagler!

How is that fight booed so much?

How is that fight booed so much?

People were getting spoiled. The action packed part was so intense that a lull between exchanges made them impatient. The fighting was addicting to watch and a bit of a pause is like a drug addict not getting more hits.

It was truly an incredible fight and it is sad that its kind of forgotten. It had everything from, punches, kicks, slams, suplex, leg locks, scrambles as well as distance control and angling in and out to and from danger zone.

This was a proper MMA fight infused with warrior spirit.

Robbie was a monster. Can't deny him a warrior spirit either.

Hell yeah!

He was training with Hughes and Pat as well as Jens Pulver. Guy was an animal among animals.

Good thread, and damn good fight.
Seeing this again brings back memories.

Good shit!

There is a lot of thread maker hate here. So this feels good.

That's the first time I ever saw Lytle fight. Became a huge fan immediately.

I saw Chris Lytle when he fought Karo and got thrown on his neck. It was scary but afterwards I became a fan of Karo and Chris.

It shouldn’t be forgotten by those who watched it unfold.

Unfortunately, Real fighting has taken a back seat to drama. It’s why the “gotcha!” Dana/Francis or Duplessis/Izzy threads go on for weeks but FOTY contenders that took place on prelims barely have legs beyond a couple pages.

I've always thought of Nick Diaz vs. Paul Daley being like Hearns-Hagler, but this was a good fight as well.

That was great. Lytle caught him hard with that up kick at the end of the first!

Back in the day didn’t lytle triangle someone and then kimura them while in the triangle? I swear I remember him doing something like that…

Chris Lytle is one of my all-time favorites. A true disciple of the JBG.
