Wow.

Quantum Encryption is a dream that is rapidly coming true (University of Science and Technology China). At this level, it can make data secure and virtually impossible to hack....

Micius uses quantum-entangled photons to effectively “teleport” information. This means SPEED that is almost instantaneous while quantum communications are extremely secure and will beat everything – yes even blockchain....

Last year, Micius beat the quantum entanglement distance record, sending a message over a distance of 746 miles....

Goodness!

That's crazy!

Pretty sure quantum encryption is not the same as 'quantum communication' implying that the message is sent in an entangled, instantaneous fashion.

Petty sure it is just the security encryption keys that use entanglement to secure the message, or something along those lines. Cool technology either way though.

China loves to show off. The rest hides under the guise of ignorance.

While Murica has been pumping out liberal arts and social science SJWs out of college campuses, China went full throttle on science and engineering in their universities. The cold reality is that China has been producing more peer reviewed researches on STEM fields than US in the past several years, and they surpassed Americans in super-computing both quantitatively and qualitatively.

Look on the bright side. We have more safe spaces on campuses than ever to guard against micro-aggressions and triggers from the oppressive white male patriarchy. Who needs technological progress when you can have LGBTWTFBBQ+ social justice?

China is leading the way in making quantum Encryption reality. Wow.

Ah, not really. The United States is already using that.

"The DARPA Quantum network, a 10-node quantum key distribution network, has been running since 2004 in Massachusetts, USA. It is being developed by BBN Technologies, Harvard University, Boston University and QinetiQ."

"A hub-and-spoke network has been operated by Los Alamos National Laboratory since 2011. All messages are routed via the hub. The system equips each node in the network with quantum transmitters—i.e., lasers—but not with expensive and bulky photon detectors. Only the hub receives quantum messages. To communicate, each node sends a one-time pad to the hub, which it then uses to communicate securely over a classical link."

"Hacking attacks target vulnerabilities in the operation of a QKD (Quantum key distribution) protocol or deficiencies in the components of the physical devices used in construction of the QKD system. If the equipment used in quantum key distribution can be tampered with, it could be made to generate keys that were not secure using a random number generator attack."

Quantum cryptography is the science of exploiting quantum mechanical properties to perform cryptographic tasks. The best known example of quantum cryptography is quantum key distribution which offers an information-theoretically secure solution to the key exchange problem.

We are far from this being a reality. I wouldn't be surprised if none of us see it in our lifetime.

Everything is "virtually impossible to hack" until it's not

I remember they also sent out requests for the DNA of very high IQ individuals. To sequence and see what is conserved and expressed at what rate.

They're going to genetically engineer themselves into Germans.

The Chinese are very 'smart'. They still believe in the 'magical' healing powers of rhino ivory horns and bear bile. Gunpowder was their greatest invention. Nothing much has happened since that. Stealing technology from Americans doesn't make you a technological leader in anything. Same for the Russians. Why re-invent the wheel? Do you really think China has the best scientists in the world? Please. U.S. scientists can do 'circles' around Chinese scientists if called upon. Hacking into quantum encryption has already been proven by U.S. scientists. Post #11 above.

Good thing we turned to the party of god and have such smart people who really understand and believe in science running our country now.

Let's just pray we get better than China at everything until we do!

people said the same thing about japan and south korea.. china has shitload of more resources and already has the largest economy in the world

Im 29. Average life expectancy is 79. so about 50 more years in me. What do you think people in 1968 would have to say about my smart phone?

Nope. The U.S. still comes ahead of China as far as the economy. China comes in second.

"2017 - The U.S. economy remains the largest in the world in terms of nominal GDP. The $19.42 trillion U.S. economy is 25% of the gross world product. The United States is an economic superpower that is highly advanced in terms of technology and infrastructure and has abundant natural resources."

China is a split between 1st world and 3rd world depending on what part of China you look at. But going back to the original question. No, the Chinese are not more technologically advanced than the Americans. They have come a long way though.
