Media Chimaev shares some tips for Imavov, wants to get competition

Recently Imavov has posted several clips of him sharpening his boxing technique, seemingly his main focus now when coming to the training.

In the last post he captioned it jokingly with "working on my wrestling", as if to declare that he's handling this his own way. By using his own best weapon in the fight.

Chimaev was fast to reply with honesty, that for Imavov's sake it would be better if he actually did focus more on the joke:

I think it was more like he wouldn't like to specifically call him out, but he will still fight him if Imavov and UFC want the fight to happen.

Sounds like he's just being diplomatic since they have trained together when he helped him out with his wrestling.

He said it's not the opponent he'd go for, with them knowing each other a little and the whole Chechnya/Dagestan thing.

They are fighting. It's a verbal agreement for now, but just a matter of time before getting announced.

Chechens fight other muslims everyday here in Europe lol people don't understand how nationalist they are (basically like albanians)

They wouldn't mind fighting a Dagestani but Chimaev is way more mature (he's 30+) he knows it will open door to even more conflict, jealousy, provocations on social media between chechens and dagestanis (in Russia) both people have huge ego

It's really dumb btw because it's just a fight and both are making money

If he really wants competition then he should start fighting more often, thats the key.

If we start to count after his first fight at catchweight in the UFC which happened in late 2022, and his move to MW, he has fought exactly 1 time per year since then. Thus, once in 2023, once in 2024 and once in 2025 and now we already know that he wont fight until mid of 2026.

That is one of the worst fighting averages of all active fighters who are trying to get a belt (obviously the ones who have no realistic chance to get the belt and fight only for money not included).

Even worse than Topuria, who really is not fighting often but even he had 1 more fights in the same period than Chmaraev.
