I think Woody was a bit more "involved" character, in that some episodes actually centered on him. That didn't happen much with Coach, so in that regards I think the Woody era was better. But Coach was a fantastic character, I really hated when he passed.

Both were good; but Diane/Sam felt more interesting & had more of that opposite juxtaposed dynamic ... ie Beauty & the Beast than with Rebecca.

Rebecca's character was a sham. I just wasn't buying it. Kirstie Alley is slutty, so the fact she wouldn't bang Sam wasn't believable.

From other forums, there are some portion of the fans love Rebecca's era simple because the casts managed to get shine particularly Frasier and Lilith.
