Can you use the Octagon as a weapon?

Serious question. Is it against the rules to slam the opponent into the cage or use the cage as a cheese grater?

Seems legal to me, although I'm pretty sure the octagon fence is relatively smooth compared to your normal everyday chain-link fence
 
Rumor has it that Kimo originally carried the octagon on his back with a cross in the center of it as punishment for the sins of mankind, then dropped it in the middle of the arena and crushed Jon Jones to death.
 
Yes, it is all legal. No, none of that is effective, as the octagon is a coated fence that will not hurt and slams are far more effective going WITH gravity onto a surface with less give.

I wonder if you are holding someone in the air with their head against the cage, are knees to the face legal?

Tank Abbott did it to Paul Varelans and they changed the rules to disallow it.

what do you think another grown ass killer pressing you into a rubber coated chain link fence feels like? also all the stuff you can do in a cage vs a ring already makes it a tool/weapon
 
Could one not throw his opponent over the cage? That legal? Sure would be epic. Tank tried in the good ol' days to no avail.

Ive seen the Krazy Horse armbar escape at a local regional mma show back in the day. Cheese grated the head nicely for the escape. Maybe ‘06-‘07’ish
 
About the only ways it could hurt an opponent would be to drag their face across it or get some body part stuck in it while dragging them across it. The problem is how do you drag someones face across it without holding their hair or in some way son'ing them. It's a lot easier and a lot more painful to hit them with an elbow to the face.

Then again, if someone has a really small head maybe you could stick it between the chain links and use the fence to choke them. It's not explicitly illegal. Perhaps that's why Koopa's Goombas don't fight MMA.
