Gane is the consensus second best guy in the division and Jones made it look easy. I guess Sergei is the next guy that could have a chance. I think Jones can take him down and finish him though.

I say give us one title defense, retire and go fight Ngannou. (Depending on his contract of course)

Thoughts?

It is a damn shame we did not get to see more of his movement and striking in his heavyweight debut. Hard to say until we see more.

It's MMA - anyone can lose (ask GSP about Matt Serra)

Pavlovich supposedly has a ground game with a background in Greco-Roman and Sambo - of course he could catch Jones.
Blaydes has a great ground game and improving standup.
Jailton apparently has been boxing since he was 11, is a Jiu Jitsu Blackbelt and can't seem to lose in the UFC

Game proved he is one dimensional - a one legged Ngannou dominated him with his legendary and awesome grappling.

Just like at 205, Jones was so far ahead of everyone else HW is no different.

Jones has always had bad boxing which is a bad weakness to have at HW and he's done a great job of hiding it with a now elite kicking game (Gus 2 and Smith fights) but with HW power I think his kicking game will be less effective like it was against power punchers Reyes and Santos.
I think guys like Stipe (prime), Pavlovich, JDS, and other solid boxers would give Jones issues but there isn't much elite talent at HW that isn't a good style match for him that is ready for a shot besides Pavlovich and Jones seems to be not wanting that fight at all. Jones will be retired before Aspinall and other elite well rounded HW's are at the top so in the UFC Pavlovich seems to be the only guy who can do it.

Yes lots

Jones is bloated up slow HW

HW is weird, you can look like a god one fight

And get destroyed the next

Too much weight and power, too little cardio

EDIT: NM I just looked at the HW rankings and its god awful

But the previous guys in their prime, like Fedor, DC, Big Nog, Prime Stipe, Werdum, Ubereem, JDS, and Cain would give the Jones that fought Gane fits

Why would he try to take down Jones?
He won't. I'm just making fun recent hype about his wrestling credentials are good enough for Jones. He's obviously going to strike and try and avoid TDs, but I think if he misses then he's going to be tied up worse than Overeem got him.

The HW division doesn't really have a serious wrestler to challenge Jones. I know before he made his debut at HW people were picking Blaydes as a nightmare matchup, but even though Jones probably wouldn't KO him (besides a head kick or something out of left field), he probably would comfortably outstrike and look like Gane at HW standing with him.
