Kind of an odd story.

Some of us have elaborate post-mortem requests, others just want a simple gesture to celebrate their life.

David Kime Jr. wanted a burger and fries at Burger King - his favorite fast food joint.

The World War II veteran, who died on Jan. 20 at 88, was buried with a "Whopper Jr." from Burger King, said the New York Daily News.

He had requested his funeral procession pass by the restaurant for a meal on its way to the cemetery.

Each mourner purchased a burger for the road, with an extra for the deceased man.

His burger was placed on his coffin during the ceremony.

"He lived a wonderful life and on his own terms," his wife said of him, reported the Associated Press.

Kime died of heart complications, reported the Gothamist.

He apparently consumed Burger King hamburgers several times per week and was known by the restaurant's staff who appreciated the business.

human bodies are weird. Some people spend all there time eating shrubs and have a heart attack at 55 while some guy makes it to his late 80s eating fast food.

RIP. he'll now be grilling burgers with the angels.

Well He lived a full life he served his country and probably fathered lots of children. What more can you ask R.I.P

After the vet's decomposed to bones the Whopper will still look exactly the same as it did when it went in, the amount of stabilising chemical crap they put in them.

Lol I thought the same thing. Have you ever seen the picture of the mcdonalds burger that is years old and looks almost identical to a fresh one?

Sounds like someone pulled a fast one on you.

Any burger won't last "years" - FFS the moisture in the bread will cause it to mold within days, and I can only imagine what would become of the grease. It would essentially be a big green mold blob by one year.. if there was anything left.

OT: May he RIP with all the burgers he wants.

(PS: Don't wanna hear about how preservatives in the bread prevent it - cause it's full of shit. I worked at both when I was a teenager and threw out both rotten meat and molded bread - entire RACKS of molded bread. Manager wasn't pleased, but it had to go.)

This is very, very true.

Penn and Teller did a live show in DC that I saw, and in one of the acts they talked about something similar. The last line of the segment was; "Human beings can endure massive trauma, disease, and being pushed to their physical limits. They can survive being shot, stabbed, cut and the loss of food and air. -But sometimes, they just die." (paraphrased)

I assumed he was exaggerating about "years" but I do remember seeing something a while ago and it took a damn sight longer to degrade than it should have.

It reminds me of the couple (I think the young lady was from Australia and the guy was from the US) that had their wedding at their favorite Taco bell location.
