Hey guys, I am building my own heavybag stand which is a hybrid of a pergola and everlast heavyduty bag stand costing $1400 if I remember right. My total project cost me right at $260 plus a few cases of beer, but is definitely a great investment for the punishment I have brought upon bag stands in the past. It will be able to hold 4-8 bags depending on how much rotation you want, but I will only be hanging 4. I will post progress pictures from start to finish, and hopefully have it done tonight or tomorrow. Let me know what you guys think!

First hanging test to make sure she doesn't fall apart on us

use this kind of concrete for the feet. It's what is used for street curbs so extra solid

Me re-hanging old 100lb bag to test

Looks good. I was ready to come in here an tell you a stand can be bought for less than $100, but since you need a multi bag stand, I think you've succeeded in beating the house.

Kudos!

Thanks! I'm going to hang two thai bags and two 80-100lb bags for boxing. should have a few more pics up tonight. have to go buy the rest of the brackets at lowes when I get off work

if anyone is interested in building one and would like the supply list let me know! Only 4 more braces to pin up there then she'll be done. concrete finally cured... woohoo

Didn't have time to finish the bracing, so I went ahead and hung the rest of the bags. Tested each out and she is solid!

Now just waiting to hit the lotto so I can buy some legit heavy bags!

Once again, awesome job. I wish I had the room for this set-up. Personally I would replace two of the heavy bags with a double end bag and a wrecking ball heavy bag. Looking at some of the pics it looks like you might have room to add a hook in the middle for a small maize bag as well.

Nice job Codiak!, I had to make a stand too because my framing is thin metal studs not 2x4's. I only made it big enough to hang one bag though. Kinda wish I made it like yours so I could put up a wrecking ball or a tear drop bag. Let us know how it holds up very interested in it's longevity. Anything you wish you did different now that you have used it? Kudos again my man. Here is the one I made that seems pale by comparison

haha! thats awesome man.

im looking for a heavy/speed bag stand myself, maybe i'll take a page out of your book and make my own.

It is alot cheaper, like $25 bucks to make the speed bag platform and the Heavy bag stand was a little under $140

I'm going get switch out some of them eventually. I'm just going to have to buy em one at a time, over time. Gotta keep the wife happy too!

I am pretty confident in that stand, each post has 4 3/4" lag bolts holding them together, along with 2 melding plates, a bunch of HD locking screws, and angle iron also. the only thing I would have done different was make it about 6-12 inches taller!
