Your pick?

Keith Krikorian

Gianni Grippo

Ethan Crelinsten

Bryce Mitchell

Curious if he'll be impacted by just having competed at CJI 2 but it's hard to bet against Crelinsten here. But in 4 rounds across a 16-man bracket, anything can happen.

EBI 25 lineup

  • Keith Krikorian
  • Gianni Grippo
  • Ethan Crelinsten
  • Bryce Mitchell
  • Ben Eddy
  • Landon Elmore
  • Jordan Holy
  • Mauricio Rios
  • Randy Baker

I don't think Ethan had many matches at CJI 2. Plus competing in grappling often doesn't seem to be an issue for most pro's.

IIRC he had 2 matches that both went to decision - so 16 total minutes of grappling. Two ways I could see an impact are 1) if he incurred some small injury at CJI 2 that we don't know about (I didn't see one but it's possible) and 2) having to make weight again within 2 weeks. He competed at 145 lbs at CJI 2 and I believe EBI lightweight is 155, which he likely still has to cut for.

I'm not saying it should be a big factor, just pointing out that having competed at CJI 2 could have some impact.

If Ethan meets Bryce, it could get ugly.

Declan Moody also had two matches at CJI 2 that went the distance, and then won gold at the ADCC Euro trials the following week. I think Ethan should be fine after two weeks of recovery, unless he picked up some sort of injury.

very good showing by bryce in the opening round as he advances.

don't love the overtime where one person dominates the entire regulation.

The kid who beat bryce (Landon Elmore -- who is 19) ended up leglocking all 4 of his opponents to win the whole thing.

After a 5 minute opening match, Elmore won his next 3 matches in about 3 minutes total combined.

I haven't seen this because I don't have fight pass anymore only flo. But apparently Crelinsten got subbed in his first match. To those who watched it, did he otherwise look competitive? I can't help but remember the Nicky Ryan interview after the CJI 2 final, when they asked him what his guys would do with their $200K (less taxes) win money and he specifically said Crelinsten would blow it in 2 weeks. Psychologically I have to think a pro athlete might feel less hungry coming off getting paid after a big event win like that.

Late response but Ethan dominated the dude in regulation and was only subbed in overtime. IMO EBI overtime sucks ass from a competitive stand point because it incentivizes the worse grappler to shell up and stall for OT so they can be gifted a dangerous position they'd never get in otherwise which is exactly what the the dude did
