Boxing is one of the things I really wanted to do actually aspired to since a young age but I can't really find a good boxing gym except some stupid one's that box for fitness or some workout thing and I feel like there not really the competitive boxing I'm looking for. I'm boxing for the competitive part of it, I want to become a pro boxer, and I really can't find a good gym in my area.

I live in Bothell, WA,

So I'm looking for a gym around Alderwood, Lynwood, Mill Creek, Kenmore, Shoreline, all those cities nearby I can't really go far.

Thank you

I can, is there a good gym down there?

There is Robert Shannon in Northgate. He mostly trains out of his garage. Two time Olympian, I think. You wouldn't get the boxing gym experience.

There is Bumble Bee in south Seattle. His gym is out of the union gospel mission. his fighters are pretty good, but you might have to earn opportunity to fight. His guys tend to be of a mauling, well conditioned style.

There is Arcaro Boxing. No facility yet but she has trained a female national champion or two. Her style is more boxing from long range.

Seattle Boxing Studio probably has the best hours. It's open pretty much all day and evening. Parking could be a pain; it's on Capitol Hill.

Cappy's Boxing.

White Center PAL and Seamar Boxing are south of West Seattle but are geared more towards youth boxing. There are some older boxers, however.

Up north there is Summers Boxing, not sure how far that is from you.

Which one out of all those do you think is really the best and has the best coach/teaching ability?

and your preference as well?

Also can't find anything about Robert Shannon's garage gym, you know anywhere where I can find info on that?

Eric dahlbergs gym "ring demon" is pretty solid. He went 11-1 in mma and is now fighting as a pro boxer

no doubt that ring demon could be a good place. however, they're not very active on the amateur boxing circuit; i've never seen someone from there fighting at a show.

More of an mma gym for sure. Eric's a good coach who's recently become more involved with boxing. Hopefully that will reflect with his stable of fighters as well

Yeah I'm looking for like just pure boxing gyms no mma,

also can you win money in the amateur circuit, chrstrm?

Also out of all those boxing gyms/garage you stated earlier,

generally you cannot win money as an amateur, but the rules are sort of in flux right now. but the easy answer is no.

personally, i would train with robert shannon. he trained with ali and angelo dundee, so i think he knows a lot and has seen alot. but i don't think his instruction is very structured.

another guy that is training people is greg haugen, he won a pro world championship and lost to julio cesar chavez sr. i know that he's been training people at the seattle boxing studio, but i'm not sure if he is there in an official capacity.

both of those guys are very knowledgeable but aren't too active in coaching amateur fighters.

cappy's and bumble bee are more organized as a fight team. cappy's is more expensive and bumble bee is in a rougher part of town.

arcaro is just starting up a gym but she is a seasoned trainer, used to be a trainer at cappy's.

and again, seattle boxing studio has the best hours.

who's the best? its hard to say because all those gyms, have produced local champions.

but the best gym around here is probably going to be tacoma boxing club, but that is super far for you.

here is a list of most of the gyms in washington: http://www.pacificnwboxing.com/clubs.php.

Actually last year I checked out Shannon teaching out of an mma school near UW. it was not good and I never even went back for a trial class.

The gym is next to his house , I've only been training for a week there so can't comment, must be a good trainer because he has a couple pro guys fighting and quite a few amateurs. He's really chilled so you can always take a drive up for a session to see what its like

for Robert Shannon, if you look on that page with the clubs listed, his is under uppercut boxing. it is literally in his one car garage.

summers is good.

I trained at the place by u village for 6 months and i thought it was pretty good at least for jiu jitsu. Classes are 90 minutes as opposed to the usual 60 for everything. I did train boxing there as well with Robert Shannon but like someone said it looks like he isnt there anymore so i cant really comment on how good it is now.. Good luck!
