What do you guys think about boxing not being readily available on dvds? Don't worry, despite my screen name, boxing is still my favorite sport. Nothing gets my rocks off like a good, exciting boxing match, I grew up watching boxing on hbo and usa tuesday night fights. MMA dvds are available at bestbuy, fry's electronics, hastings, etc. Do you guys think that boxing dvds are ever going to be released like MMA dvds?

I get my boxing dvds from customizedvds.com and i bought both of the usa tuesday night fight knockouts series 1 & 2. I love the usa tuesday night fights knockout compilations. I hope they release more sometime soon. There's one knockout that i used to have recorded on vhs from tuesday night fights from 95 or 96, i can't remember correctly of who it was but it was like shannon taylor or something vs somebody weaver??? great knockout that hasn't been on series one or two yet.

Do you think that not being able to buy boxing on dvd is hurting the sport or do you think it would do more harm than good with people maybe not ordering the ppvs and etc and just waiting for the dvds?

I do think that.Ufc has its own section at most video/elecrtronic stores, boxing is mixed in the indy car racing and exercise stuff......

I don't believe many would wait the four or six months until the fight would come out on DVD when they could download the next day via torrents. For sure it would be nice if HBO or Showtime put out the best fights or the most popular boxers bouts on disc every year, unfortunately they most likely figure the market is not there. Which is a shame.

I also have purchased some fights from customizeddvds.com and they do an alright job cleaning up the quality, but it is still not the great quality of a company release. At least in this day and age of HD and DVR you can pay for and record some of the great bouts to rewatch at your whim.

I'd love to see boxing DVDs. I'm surprised HBO or Showtime hasn't put out a compilation of some of the fights they've had on their network the past year.

yeah, you can't beat the quality of OFFICIAL dvds. dvrs seem to ALWAYS have some amount of fuzz and such, but customizedvds is the best site that I found.I've ordered from fightfarm and iwmdvds and some of there dvds are good and other ones are a complete waste of time and $$$.

The only boxing dvds i've ever really seen at a bestbuy or fry's is the 2 disc ringside mike tyson and like the roy jones jr's knockouts. I've seen a few others here and there but even the usa tuesday night fight knockouts are only available online.

I really wish they would release some hbo boxing after dark and shobox and some espn wednesday night and friday night fights. I was hoping that some other networks would take the que from the tuesday night fights knockouts but I guess not.

Nooooo, I like that boxing DVDs aren't taken seriously like the UFC ones. That way I can still see boxing on Youtube but the UFC videos get taken down. :icon_sad:

Customizedvds is okay, but there is far, far better quality out there. You just have to know where to look. Personally, I have been recording boxing since Cotto/Margarito. I have been recording from HD feeds, while customizedvds records from SD feeds. However, they do offer older fights that are harder to come by. Here is an article on boxing piracy:

DVD pirates filling their shelves -- and customer orders

My latest shipment of contraband goods arrived today: a set of about 30 Shane Mosley fights and 20 Zab Judah fights, on 21 DVDs in plain white sleeves, most of them duplicated from HBO telecasts -- without permission from HBO, of course.

I'm not proud that I solicit products from the digital underground to perform my job. I stopped downloading music illicitly years ago and began paying for it on iTunes and Amazon. Every week I ignore the guy I see selling bootleg DVDs of new movies.

But if you really need videos of Shane Mosley's greatest hits, what's a guy to do? There's no legal way to do it. At least a dozen Web sites offer thousands of classic fights -- just Google "boxing DVDs" to find them.

Although the guys behind these sites hawk pirated content from some of the planet's biggest media companies -- Time Warner (HBO), Viacom (Showtime) and Disney (ESPN) -- this black market is a little different from the music-stealing scene that grew around Napster.

The boxing DVD underground exists, in large part, because there is no legal market for boxing DVDs. You can't walk into Target and buy a box set of the Arturo Gatti-Micky Ward trilogy. You can't put Oscar De La Hoya versus Felix Trinidad in your NetFlix queue. You may be able to buy a licensed DVD of a Super Bowl game or any UFC title fight, but you can't legally get a DVD of the "Rumble in the Jungle" or the "Thrilla in Manila."

My latest supplier -- I promised not to use his name, so let's call him Video Mack -- supports his collecting habit by offering copies of fights via those little Google text ads. Video Mack has about 5,000 fights in his library.
