You'll generally see fights you consider boring between two top elite fighters who are evenly matched and aren't with some extra energy drink. If they fight anyone who's not on their level, you won't find that boring because they will dominate the other fighter. If the fighters are on a close level and aren't on some sort of energized drink, the fight will look boring for ppl. Because they are high IQ fighters. They know that taking risks = fatal mistake that will cost them the fight. JJ vs Gus 1 were two elite fighters who had the arguably best fight of all. But then, there weren't many regulations on substances, so I imagine fighters would simply be more risk free as they'd feel less pain, so they'd engage more.

When fighters aren't on some level of monster drink and are still elite, they will dominate who isn't on their level (like Ankalaev dominated Johnny Walker) and have a close fight vs someone who's an equal like an Alex Pereira... Which ppl will find boring but because they won't give openings specially when they're power punchers.

Guys who have KO power and go head hunting are generally easily handled, like Jones vs Gane. Or also, a high possibility is the damage that fights were leading to some athletes. Like, vertical elbows being allowed, whoever is a good wrestler and can land vertical elbows... That's nasty. Look at Stipe's face post R1 vs JJ... His eye socket was even carved deep. For sure there are some rules that are (and rightfully) being implemented because of brain damage and permanent injuries, when fighters are dominant and get into a dominant position. We don't want to see fighters dying in the octagon so we can feel adrenaline, do we? Fighters' safety is above granting audience a exciting fights by battering another fighter...

entertainment is subjective. Noones worth listening to. Just form ur own opinion and accept that you're gonna think other are dumb, and they're gonna think you're dumb.

This is one of the most non-sensical posts I have ever read in my life. Whatever you mean by "energy drink", I think you should lay off it.
Yeah, I skipped over his post, saw yours, thought, WTF? So I go back to read his and saw too much of that shit.

I'll see my way out.

Can you understand how stupid it is to complain that the UFC isn't BKFC when there is a BKFC ?
I’m under the opinion we don’t need to change rules around fighters, we need fighters with answers for the problem to rise up

this is why the best fights are found on world star hip hop. WHen the skill level goes up the entertainment goes down.

Exactly and when somebody does it will be much more exciting to watch over an artificial victory. IMO we need less rules, guys should be ready and prepared for EVERYTHING. To me that is what this sport actually is.

Totally agree brother!

The rules get in the way of that. Someone can just put you in a crucifix and keep you there if they want to. Some positions can’t be fought off if the fighter’s only goal is to keep it. Pride had kicks and knees to the head of downed opponents and yellowcards because they knew that you could stall if you want to. If you just wanna be a dick and get a dickish win.

Same shit with the GSP era. You guys have short memories, but the epidemic of lay and pray back then was waayy worse than today.

Not even saying anything directly against GSP, just the people he inspired. Jon Fitch, Clay Guida, Jake Shields, Sonnen (less so), Okami. GSP just looked better doing it, but the guy didn’t finish a fight most of his reign after the Spaghetti Monster made him scared to commit… and he had too much to lose.

You wanna watch shredded dudes in tight shorts look like they’re trying to fuck each other without knowing how, be my guest. But don’t act like it’s in any way more sophisticated.

I’m not sure what makes you think I’d want to do that.

GSP won many of his fights in the feet (Okami too btw). Conservative and risk-averse, sure, but it was not what you describe
