Bobby green says he'd rather have an exciting style than 'win' a fight.

Bobby Green is 35 years old. He has over 40 professional fights of which he lost 13 (5 via finishes). He had his first main-event a month ago and only because he stepped up on short notice. He made less than 100k in his last victory. How he chooses to fight and what goals he sets is obv. entirely up to him.

That being said, you'd be an absolute idiot to model your career after that of Green.

excitement can mean eyeballs on you, asses in the seats, and $$$- but you gotta win at least most of those fights to remain relevant

It's a cop out. You can be both exciting and win a fight.

It's not one or the other.
I was imagining a situation where fighter is very defensive and stops engaging or back pedaling like some fighters do.

his style isn't "exciting" because the likelihood of a knockout is pretty low. i don't get excited nor am i sitting on the edge of my seat. his style is cool to watch tho ngl tbh. but not exciting

Pulver didn't say that, but obviously had that mindset. How much good did it do him?

Not to mention, for a great deal of his career he has not been an exciting fighter by any common standard.

Bruh, Rogan asks him. It's not like he said it can't be both. Rogan asks which he'd rather have/be.

So how many of y'all will not even click on the vid and shit on Green for something Rogan asks him? Mods can we get a poll?

I like Bobby but you only say that when you can’t be the best. Every athlete in every sport wants to be the very best even if they don’t want to admit it. Some accept they won’t be and stop trying to be, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t want to be. I get it though, it’s a really tough pill to swallow when you put in so much effort.

I know Bobby I remember the Trinaldo fight you gave away

Yeah I'm going to safely assume people are smart enough not to develop a career following him. I get it. Action Jackson is fun but winning is the point. I mean, it should be.

At where he is at in his career. It makes sense to be exciting. He needs to maximize profit by scoring bonuses and getting fan recognition. He isn't really contending for a title. He probably has 3-5 fights left.

I get that some fighters prefer to stand and trade but this oft-repeated criticism of Khabib and Islam’s style is becoming tiresome. In Bobby’s case, it sounds like an excuse.

I hate LnP fests as much as anybody, but Khabib and Islam’s style is the farthest thing from it. Both are extremely technical and have a sophisticated ground game. Far more interesting than watching Colby wet blanket Masvidal for 25 minutes or Usman’s toe stomps.
