How could have he been if he actually tried? When he started he looked decent even beat argueably the best KBer of all time. But he never really tried, he’s admitted it and so did Bas

He'd have no shot in the UFC because of the weight limits and steroid testing.
In an organization like PRIDE maybe he could have been a borderline top 10 fighter?

Hard to say how he would have been had he started combat training in his teenage years for example. Among his advantages are very good chin, and good ability to translate his power into fighting early on, unlike so many other big strong guys who couldn't. Among his weaknesses, cardio and a huge stylistic weakness against wrestling and boxing.

He was always a bit mentally unstable, and had no cardio. If he had the consistent heart of Saku or Nog he would've wiped clean almost the entire Pride roster.

In his prime, he was 375lbs with a six pack. He beat Ernesto Hoost and almost beat Big Nog. People are talking about all these strong men and MMA fighters these days, Big Nog actually did it. He beat a guy who had 150lbs of steroid muscle on him. That is pretty dang impressive, especially when other MMA fighters and bjj guys are taping out to guys holding side control on them.

Can't help but think if Bob had that competitive drive he'd have been a world beater. Beating Ernesto twice is no joke and surrounded by Bas & Maurice Smith you'd think he'd have smart advice coming his way to evolve.

Think he realised at some point money was way easier just to show up and dip without the brain damage. He's been pretty vocal about this if I remember correctly

I think he was as good as he was ever going to be. A guy that size was always going to have cardio issues, and his lack of heart was not something that was going to change.

Entertaining freak show, got two amazing wins over Hoost in kickboxing which is incredible, gave Nog a legendary fight, but that's it.

Just peaked during the wrong era, would’ve easily been champ in today’s HW division.

Yeah, if Sapp starved himself to make 265 (like 100 pound drop at least?) and made himself USADA friendly...heck, he wouldn't have even been the UFC champ in the 1990s if he did that.

These comparisons to Ngannou are stupid. We're talking about a genetic freak who's too big for HW anyway, who then juices to the gills. It's not fair to compare any HW to that...even those who have been caught juicing. At least they have to make 265 and must be careful with PEDs and try to beat tests...Sapp could do unlimited PEDs in Pride with no testing. Do people realize Sapp had to leave the NFL for steroids before he came to MMA?

You are new to mma if you can't see a humongus skill gap between Sapp and Ngannou. But thats no surprise coming from you. Your opinions are so bad you feel the need to add color or bold to your text.

You honestly think Ngannous striking is that much cleaner than Bob Sapps? LOL

I see why you have yellows now, troll.

Sapp vs. Brock would have been great

Sapp was already declining by the time Brock came. If he had to starve himself to make 265, he'd be much weaker with zero gas tank. Brock would easily take him down and pound him to dust (actually until Sapp tapped to strikes after about 1.3 seconds). I mean Fujita beat the Pride version of Sapp, and his TDs aren't as good as Lesnar's.
