Pretty fun and wholesome Bo Nickal interview. This is pretty dated (2 weeks ago), but I haven’t seen anybody posted it yet, and Bo has not done any interview since, so here I go.

timestamped on Ngannou part

Full Notes:

On an old video of him getting punch by his mom

“Yeah, yeah. So my mom actually she has a few amateur boxing fights, she trains and stuff so, you know that was I think my senior of high school so I was about 17. And getting a lil big for my breeches, but I thought I could just eat a shot from her no problem, and yeah, I’m definitely glad she didn’t put it on my chin, I would have probably been wobbled.”

On him not having nickname

“You know, I think that’s something that has to come organicly. I haven’t heard anything yet that I like, so we’ll see.”

Interviewer suggest “Honey BOBO”

“(LMAO), like the girl from the TV? I like it, that’s up there. I’ll consider it for sure.”

Would you rather segment

1. Who would you rather have as roomate, Strickland or Colby

“Hahahaha, dude what the heck. That’s the toughest question, that’s way tougher than any question I ever got before. Probably Sean Strickland I guess, Idk. I mean they are both weirdos, but I feel like Sean Strickland, I feel like I could actually have a conversation with him at least like no matter if he’s saying crazy stuff or whatever, I’ll just be like, ‘Bro….’. I could at least talk to him. With Colby I’d be like, ‘I couldn’t even talk to you bro’. Too far out there so yeah, probably Sean.

2. Khabib’s career vs Conor’s money

“For sure Khabib’s career. For me the way I approach that is I’m not really looking for the UFC or any organization or another person to like write me a cheque, and that be the way I make my money you know. I’m very diversified in different investments. Winning fights and going down as one of the best of all time and being p4p no.1 fighter in the world are what I’m really focused on. No amount of money in the world would ever shake me from those goals or make me feel like more motivated.”

Being blue belt, did he ever thought getting into blue belt competition and destroying normal blue belts?

“(laughing), Oh man, I couldn’t ever do a bluebelt tournament, it wouldn’t feel right for me. I’ve done three grappling matches in my career now. First one was Gordon Ryan, next two I did at the UFC Fight Pass invitational against like very high level guys. I got invited into ADCC this year, the timing didn’t work out or else I would’ve done it. But I would love to do ADCC at some point. I feel like I could be one of the best fighters in the world and at the same time you know compete at a really high level submission grappling and you know while it’s not my focus, I do enjoy and it would be fun.”

Difference of trash talk and being confident

“That’s something that I’m really learning to navigate in MMA, because in wrestling, that’s not really a thing. Fortunately my team, we like get on to each other a lot like, we play a lot of games that we’re competing in practice or whatever it is. So it doesn’t super unnatural to me, what’s important to me is I’m never gonna go personal with it. Like I don’t like when people will go really personal with it and talk about wives, families, religion. That’s like super low. So for me I like to definitely root the trash talk in facts where I can say ‘your jab defence is trash’ or ‘you had no base’ or like ‘how do you expect to stop me from taking you down’. Those are the types of things that I like to be focused on, it’s just real and genuine.

Rapid fire question about how the fight would go against fighters mentioned.

1. Israel Adesanya

“Man, much respect to Israel Adesanya, he’s the champ. I feel like I match up well with him. He hasn’t really had guys pushing him too much in the grappling so I feel like there’s always gonna be chance for him to clip me and to catch me and stuff, but I think if I got a hold of him, then I don’t really think he’s getting away from me.”

2. Khamzat Chimaev

(Bo smiling widely). Man, that’s like a dream fight for me. I really want that fight. Obviously tough dude, great grappling, solid striking, so you know that’s like a fight I’d love to have for the belt at some point in the future because I just feel like it would be one of the most hyped fight in the history of the UFC and exciting. He’s a guy that brings it everytime. And I’m a guy that…. the same thing you know, when the lights are on and when the most pressure is on I’m gonna perform the best. I don’t really necessarily even have a prediction of how the fight would go, but I believe in myself and I know I’d won that fight.”

3. Francis Ngannou

“HAHAHAHAHAHAH, Oh my god……. you all are doing me dirty, what the heck. Francis is a frickin big dude, so I definitely not looking for any type of fight with him, but if we ever did, I would have to take him down. I’d shoot low singles, low singles all day straight to his ankle, keeps the fingers crossed that I don’t get hit hahah.”

Fighters he would take in a barfight

“Oh that’s easy, I would take my buddy Anthony Cassar. My best friend, my best man in my wedding. Massive dude, 235 pounds. 6’3. Just absoulute tank so I feel like if anybody rolled up on us in a bar like that’s no problem, we’ll take care of them.

You know, it’s so funny. We just graduated from college, I’ll go out once in a while, rarely. It’s the funniest thing, because I’ll be sitting at the bar, and I’d see a dude across the way looking at me, this happens all the time. And I’m like ‘yo, what’s this guy looking at?’, I’m bout to get into fight with this dude for sure and if I was looking at the guy, the way he was looking at me, we’d fight. And every single time, I feel like such a jerk because the dude would come up to me and be like ‘Yo bro I’m a big fan’, I’m such a jerk, I really though we would scrap hahaha, and then I’m just like, ‘Aww thank you bro’. It’s happen to me so many times.”

Difference of his wrestling and Dagestan

“That’s a great question, I’ve actually never been to Dagestan I would love to go there and train. A lot of my friends and teammates have been out there and train. I actually really do not have a typical American style wrestling. I would say my style is more similar to Dagestani style because I see a lot of creativity, a lot of creative movements, whereas in American style for the most part is guys trying to wear their opponents down get them tired. I’d say those are the main differences.

“That’s how I feel especially with the way I wrestle with my style, MMA really feels natural for me. Being able to transition quickly, being able to blend techniques together all those things. It kinda just make sense in my brain, there’s a lot of people that are really solid wrestlers, that I would say wouldn’t be a good MMA fighters because I don’t think they have those attributes that I do. That’s why I think I’m drawn to MMA because I knew even before I ever step foot in the gym or train or had a fight that I was gonna be really good at it.”

Bo tell his fans about his socials and update on return

“I’m gonna be fighting hopefully early next year. Unfortunately I had a fight scheduled for December, I got a lil injury so a bit push back to March so I’d be fighting March of next year. And look out for my boys, my teammates on ATT Happy Valey, they’ll be fighting on Ikon Fights (Jorge Promotion IIRC), Dec 2nd in Orlando, and it will be broadcast on UFC Fight Pass there is Anthony Cassar, and Musa, they’ll be fighting then and I’ll be cornering them. I appreciate you all for having me on.”

TLDR: Bo Nickal looks forward to the day he fight Izzy and Chimaev, but not Ngannou.

I looooove Bo Nickal lol. He is humble, wholesome, but also very confident. I have said this many times, but I feel like he is the combination of Poatan and Wonderboy personality.

He also took time to promote his teammate Anthony Cassar, and Musa? Idk the other guys name, when he was given chance to say things to his fans. Not many fighter’s will do this, a lot of time they will just focus on themselves. He is a very humble guy.

Whether he will be successful or not, I will be his fan.

What do my sherbros think?

Damn dude, we appreciate you working overtime. Lol

Bo is a nightmare match up for Ngannou. He just have to circle around Francis, throw jab then shoot for the leg when that last is tired.

I'd shoot on Ngannou faster than Bader on Rumble (RIP <mma1>)
