Some of it; I just got the impression that the extended beatings in boxing and to a lesser extent MMA had more long term effects.
Not arguing in general with anything that you wrote.
Semi-related: I noticed that the count of a downed fighter only appeared to start after the referee had both corralled the standing fighter and moved into position to make "eye contact" with the downed one; essentially giving the downed fighter 12-14 seconds to return to their feet and effectively another opportunity to get swiftly KOd (which was typically what followed shortly afterward.)
So BKFC is definitely worse in that regard.
Fair points by you, though!
**And of course it's better when they're not fighting high level fighters even if they're over the hill.**
I have watched a few events.
Maybe 5, 10 tops.
If there isn't a UFC event or if I scroll by and Bare Knuckle is on, I'll watch.
I like fights... unabashedly.
I was expecting sort of the way they describe 1800s boxing. More body shots, maybe wait to go high until the guy is tired or hurt from a liver shot.
Pick the headshots carefully.
It ain't that.
I will not be the least bit surprised when the documentary comes out in 10-15 years that CTE is off the charts in bare knuckle boxing. Those dudes are taking big boy swings with no gloves to pad it.
Maybe the concussions happen a smidge faster. You are probably right regarding less extended beatings. The brain simply can not endure it in Bare Knuckle.
It is rare to see a guy get up twice, usually they only get up if they were dropped by a grazing or partially blocked shot. Any clean power shot lands and its a wrap. You will see them TRY to beat the count but their legs just don't function, or in a lot of cases they try to wait to get composure (on the 7, 8 or 9 count as boxers are trained to do) which just never comes to them.
And agree that the level is a notch lower, also it is a different sport so both boxers and mma guys can struggle to adapt.
I won't stand between a man and his paycheck, but the physical toll for BKFC seems very very high to me.
