Lets go fist to face style.

I remember the good 'ole days when over the hill UFC fighters went out to pasture in Bellator.

Sad to see them now getting their brain cells wrecked in BKFC.

Wouldn't they be more likely to get superficial damage (cuts and eye pokes) than concussive brain damage due to the lack of gloves?

Also, BKFC isn't going to get young up-and-coming killers.
They're more and likely to get old alcoholic/meth-head sloppy brawlers.

I take it you haven't watched much bare knuckle.

I get the perspective you brought, which is rooted in common sense and self preservation, don't want to break your hands so you target the body and take a little power off... that is logical.

It doesn't go like that though. They go balls out and the concussions are way worse in BKFC. Guys equilibriums completely failing happens every card.

the knockouts are BAD.

They get the cuts too.
And the bruises, bad bruises.
And I would assume broken hands and knuckles.

Some of it; I just got the impression that the extended beatings in boxing and to a lesser extent MMA had more long term effects.

Not arguing in general with anything that you wrote.

Semi-related: I noticed that the count of a downed fighter only appeared to start after the referee had both corralled the standing fighter and moved into position to make "eye contact" with the downed one; essentially giving the downed fighter 12-14 seconds to return to their feet and effectively another opportunity to get swiftly KOd (which was typically what followed shortly afterward.)

So BKFC is definitely worse in that regard.

Fair points by you, though!

**And of course it's better when they're not fighting high level fighters even if they're over the hill.**

I have watched a few events.
Maybe 5, 10 tops.

If there isn't a UFC event or if I scroll by and Bare Knuckle is on, I'll watch.
I like fights... unabashedly.

I was expecting sort of the way they describe 1800s boxing. More body shots, maybe wait to go high until the guy is tired or hurt from a liver shot.
Pick the headshots carefully.

It ain't that.

I will not be the least bit surprised when the documentary comes out in 10-15 years that CTE is off the charts in bare knuckle boxing. Those dudes are taking big boy swings with no gloves to pad it.

Maybe the concussions happen a smidge faster. You are probably right regarding less extended beatings. The brain simply can not endure it in Bare Knuckle.

It is rare to see a guy get up twice, usually they only get up if they were dropped by a grazing or partially blocked shot. Any clean power shot lands and its a wrap. You will see them TRY to beat the count but their legs just don't function, or in a lot of cases they try to wait to get composure (on the 7, 8 or 9 count as boxers are trained to do) which just never comes to them.

And agree that the level is a notch lower, also it is a different sport so both boxers and mma guys can struggle to adapt.

I won't stand between a man and his paycheck, but the physical toll for BKFC seems very very high to me.

This is correct and it's a misconception with bare knuckle fighting.

You actually see guys holding back on their punches a lot because hands break so easily. It's easy to break your hand with 16 oz boxing gloves let alone bare hands.

By sad, do you mean fucking awesome?

Taking brain damage to deliver entertainment is at the heart of every combat sport, if you're a true fan, you should embrace it in all its glory.

Chuck Liddell vs. Evander Holyfield in BKFC, let's fucking go!

This is a myth. Someone just died in BKFC

They're finally fighting in a real sport/big leagues and you're upset about it?

I have noticed recently that some of them are dipping their heads a lot in the fights. I guess in hopes that the opponent hits their noggin and hurt their hands. not sure how i feel about that but if it's legal than it's fair game. As i said just an observation i am not saying it happens all the time.

Doesn't seem like you'd get more brain damage in BKFC. You'd probably get cut easier, but can't rattle a guy over and over without breaking your hand.

Shocker that the carnie conartist who claimed he had to break off "negotiations" with Francis is now so flush with cash that he...

*checks notes*

...has to televise his events on a tiny video service known for being loaded with neonazi videos and other extreme-right content that wouldn't be hosted anywhere else.

Tiny video service that got Power Slap 3,000,000 + views for the finale? That one?
