Wow! Unreal. I am geeking out over this so hard right now.

Hey, I don't see David Lang after Wallid Ismail! :icon_lol:

Very cool! I didn't know my instructor, David Arnebeck was Rickson's only American BB.

My instructors are missing off the Pedro Sauer part.

very interesting lineages

i saw this site a few months ago and noticed it had some missing info.

cool to see Jacare Calvacanti is a Rolls BB. I wonder if his teaching style and work ethic is directly correlated to Rolls himself?

It may be why Alliance has so many team wins in IBJJF tourneys

This is old, missing many modern practitioners, and I don't know if it can be updated. I think this is the tree that used to be at BJJ.org.

And I've always objected to Rolls Gracie being listed under Carlos Sr. He was Carlos' son, but Helio raised and trained him. Glad to see that this chart reflects that.

I can't wait for bjj to get to the point where people stop caring so much about lineage :icon_twis

Boy, after a little research, I can see that site needs a lot of updates! :icon_neut

And alot of browns listed as black. Or have Joe Rogan and Ollie gotten their blackbelts ? :D

Problem is, that even now, most of us are only 1-2 people removed from someone famous. Once you get a few generations of guys between the famous people and the mass of students, then most people won't care anymore. Methinks.

All you have to do is send the the person that manages this site the information and they will add who is missing after it is verified.

maybe I'm just stupid and missing it but where do you email? my instructor is not on there and he is a Roy Harris black belt and even runs the academy for Roy now.

EDIT: yes I am stupid... the contact link would be a good place to start.

I think it's a good thing, and important in any martial art where you're paying to learn. There are a lot of frauds out there that this lineage fixation has rooted out, and probably several more that it has dissuaded from even trying.

Too true. And how hard is it to keep track of the few names there are in a persons lineage? It is so easy to keep alive, why not?

I knew it was dated but I thought it was still cool enough to link.
