Hi guys,

I'm going on a trip to HO Chi Minh around Jan 31-Feb 2. It'd be super awesomesauce if anyone recommend a good gym I can visit while I'm there :) I found a few on my initial Google search so I'll already be bringing my gi with me, but I was wondering if you guys had any specific recommendations.

Thanks!!!

I'm there right now, in fact. Leaving on the 31st.

I've stopped by http://www.saigonjiujitsu.com a number of times. It's a small club (the scene here is almost non-existent), but there's a range of skill levels and everyone is ridiculously friendly.

It's mostly no-gi and they have members with backgrounds in a number of grappling styles. If you have a bit of experience, they might invite you to show a favorite technique during class.

I'd strongly recommend popping in to check them out. Enjoy Saigon!

There are some places for your training in Saigon

1. Kimura BJJ Saigon (Brown belt)
2. Saigon Sport Club (Black belt)
3. Saigon Jiujitsu
4. Saigon Luta-Livre

I know the guys at Saigon Jiu Jitsu. Good group of guys and good club.

Also definitely check out Saigon Sports Club. The gym is insane.

The BJJ coach is a Travis Lutter black belt and they have a huge schedule. BJJ, nogi, wrestling, MMA, Muay Thai, boxing, K-1 Kickboxing.

The gym is 7,500 square meters or something ridiculous like that with a swimming pool, 400 square meters of mats, 2 boxing rings, MMA cage, indoor basketball court, restaurant, juice bar, weight room, indoor running track and who knows what else.

Some of my friends train and work there. I can't wait to drop in the next time I'm in Saigon. We don't have anything like this in Bangkok. But to be fair, I don't think there's many facilities like this anywhere.

This is so awesome, totally didn't expect there to be a BJJ scene in HCM let alone a place like this. Didn't think grappling or MMA was even that popular in SEA.

Thailand & the Philippines have a burgeoning bjj/grappling scene.

Malaysia is catching up.

Yup I'm from the Philippines actually. A bunch of homegrown blackbelts are starting to get promoted and a LOT more are soon to follow.

Thanks everyone for the advice! Real excited to go out there and train now :)

Guys, ended up training down at Saigon Jiu Jitsu. Only three of us for the noon nogi session but had a lot of fun. Learned some things and ended up showing the guys my favorite omoplata setup. Great people, would definitely recommend!

I miss those guys already.

I am going here on June 10-13, any good gi places to train?

Saigon jiujitsu is the only one I've been to. Not too bad, much better than the scene here in China.
