Betting odds of the ones that lost:

1) Rousey was a -1200 favorite
2) Nunes was a -1000 favorite
3) Shevchenko was a -850 favorite
4) Joanna was a -600 favorite
5) Holly was a -325 favorite
6) Cyborg was a -240 favorite
7) Weili was a -200 favorite

Now the contexts:

1) Rousey: at the time was undefeated, finishing ppl in a few seconds, she had a bunch of title defenses already I mean she was looking unstoppable, and Holly on the other hand was just known because she was a boxing champion, ppl thought Rousey was going to take her down and finish her in the ground easily like everybody else, maaan were they wrong.

2) Nunes: at the time was looking terrifying, everybody was calling her the female GOAT, she was knocking champions out in the first round like nothing, she's had literally beat every champion or former champions of 3 different divisions, 2 division champ, 12 wins in a row, 8 title fights wins in a row, everybody was scared of her, nobody was expecting her to lose, especially not to Peña, till this day ppl still make fun of Peña but maaan what an upset that was.

3) Shevchenko: the most dominant female champ with the record of most title defenses, she was going for her 8th title defense in a row, she was winning the fight and lost it in the championship rounds against Grasso, nobody was really expecting Grasso to be the one to stop Valentina.

4) Joanna: was dominating the division and the build up for that fight was crazy, the trash talk, nobody was expecting Joanna to get knocked out in the first round and Rose wasn't too known at the time, big upset.

5) Holly: at the time was coming from taking the title from Rousey and stopping all her reign, she was fighting somebody that Rousey had beat twice, she was winning the whole fight and lost it in the last rounds, the last few minutes.

6) Cyborg: she was very feared at the time she was 13 years undefeated with 20 wins in a row, it was very hard to find opponents for her, it was very shocking to see hee getting KO'd like that in a few seconds.

7) Weili: similar to Cyborg, she had 21 wins in a row with her only loss being her very first pro fight, she was coming from knocking out Andrade in a few seconds and making Joanna look like an alien, Rose wasn't a big underdog but it was still shocking to see her doing again and putting down somebody like Weili in the first round.

I need a poll, you gotta pick 3.

If name is concerned, Nunes vs Pena. Nunes names was always bigger than her skill and she has problems with girls who cant be flatlined fast, even if they are average. So I am not that surprised. But considering that she is GOAT for many people, that was just a shockwave for MMA world and you just can’t deny it. I never got the sense that Ronda had that mythical aura as being better than others like Nunes had so yeah…

Pena vs Nunes 1. All the others seemed like reasonable, plausible outcomes.
I didn't think Pena could beat Nunes anywhere. I didn't think she'd weather the standup as well as she did. The RNC is still baffling when I watch the replay. Like Nunes just called it quits before it even squeezed.

Holly destroying Ronda. In hindsight, Holly of course had the skills to take her out the way she did. However, the momentum that Ronda had made it almost impossible to imagine her losing. Her fights were usually a question of how she would finish the fight and what round rather than if she would win.

Grasso is up there most definitely, but I don't feel Shevchenko had even close to that same aura of invincibility when they fought.

Statistically Holm might have been the biggest underdog, but Pena and Grasso were both much more surprising to me. I knew Holm was a live dog, but I definitely thought Pena and Grasso were going to get destroyed.

the odds pretty much spell out which was the biggest upset. Good work TS.

1- Rousey, 2-Shevchenko and 3-Nunes.

Pena over nunes
Grasso over Shevchenko
And atleast in my opinion either rose over jederchickwbenzhajeb because was by (T)KO or Tate over holly

Pena was always a great fighter but rarely gave the chance due to politics. It took awhile for Dana White to wake up. But props to Pena for turning into a female Nate Diaz and just grab that shit.

WMMA being added to the UFC was a pretty big upset for me.

Statistically Holm might have been the biggest underdog, but Pena and Grasso were both much more surprising to me. I knew Holm was a live dog, but I definitely thought Pena and Grasso were going to get destroyed.

I don't know if that was even an upset. Carano was more famous, but not because of her fighting ability.

Edit: Cyborg was a -160 favorite

It's definitely not Grasso vs. Shevchenko, even though I wasn't expecting Grasso to beat her, some of the shine came off Val because a lot of people thought she'd lost her last fight to Taila Santos

1 Holly vs Ronda, 2 Peña vs Nunes, Grasso winning might be third

I'm tempted to say Tate choking Holm out. By the golden standards of mma math, it is quite puzzling.

But all kidding aside, I was surprised when I saw Ronda get KTFO'd by Holm, but it kinda had to be expected at some point. However, to think that Miesha Tate, given her skillset, would beat Holm, when Ronda couldn't...to me that was wayyyy more surprising. It's Miesha Tate ffs! LOL

Don't understand how people were so surprised by Holly KOing Ronda, even without hindsight, Holly was the best striker in the entire division, multi champ in boxing(& kickboxing, correct?)

Who had (especially compared to other female fighters) as masters, or great understanding of distance and footwork.

I actually thought Pena and Nunes would win so can rule those two out. Really it was Rose beating Joanna, that should never have happened.
