Hey guys I've been looking for a better tape and trying all kinds to find one that won't fall off after long and heavy training sessions.

I've tried the following:

Athletic tape from Target stores (up&up brand) - works average, falls of sometimes.

Athletic tape from Academy stores (marked Cramer) - total garbage, falls off immediately with moisture.

Finger tape from Tape Armor - adhesion is amazing even when wet, but only comes in finger tape widths.

Can you guys share what's working for you and where you can get it?

Johnson and Johnson athletic tape is great stuff, but you can only order it in bulk directly from them IIRC. Barring that, Jaybird and Mais athletic tape is very good too.

If you need something heavier duty, consider ordering some leukotape (but make sure you get a cover roll if you don't want to tear your skin off when you remove it haha).

Mueller brand athletic tape stays on great for me. Available at one of CVS or Rite Aid (I get them confused)

I use Jaybird or Mueller. Sometimes you can find them on sale in bulk packs. I always jump on them.

My athletic tape opinion.

J&J: 5/5
pros: tears easily both lengthwise and horizontally. Sticks very well. Keeps elasticity well.
Cons: price
Available everywhere. Walgreens, cvs, wal-mart, order on line

Jaybird: 4/5
Pros: sticks very well. price is really good. Keeps elasticity.
Cons: difficult to tear.
Available: online only here in middle America

Muller: 3.5/5
Pros: sticks ok, tears ok, keeps elasticity ok
Cons:sticks ok, tears ok, keeps elasticity ok
Availability: dicks sporting goods, Walgreens

Target/Walgreens/wal-mart house brands: less than 2/5
Pros: availability and price
Cons: everything else
Availability : everywhere

I buy jaybird by the case. It is the best deal for me. I like j&j better but can't justify paying 20% more.

I'm the "tape guy" in my gym... Tape fingers, toes, wrists sometimes. I prefer j&j zonas tape. Sticks just enough without being too sticky, easy to tear both ways. I can take a 1.5 inch roll and tear 6 quarter inch thick strips easily for finger taping.

I tried tape armor, but I found it a bit sticky and it costs 2-4 times the cost of tearing a zonas roll for thin strips. Check out Amazon for deals. Split a box of 32 rolls with gym buds and you pay just over $2 per roll.

If you had a lot of money or good AT's you would use pre-tape spray on your fingers.

I did some googling and didn't find many fact sheets or reviews on war tape. What's your source on this tape and what's your take? Does it adhere well even with a lot of sweat for grappling?

I haven't used it in a long time, but I got it from either mma warehouse or title boxing. It is very popular and sticks WAY better than regular athletic tape at the store.

That Zonas tape is pricy. Is it that much better than j&j "coaches" tape?

What's the difference between the two? For me - even though tape armor is expensive it's quite worth it to me because it actually stays on and I don't have to cut anything.

I have never used the Zonas. I have no problems with the standard "coaches" tape staying on.
