Just wondering what kind of shin guards people here prefer for Muay Thai work. I had a pair of Hyabusa Pro Guards that I used for a while, but they seemed really short and fell well below the knee.

I would rather have a little more protection even if that means a heavier guard.

I use a cheap thin cloth shin guard. It hurt when I first started training but I'm use to it and can take the pain now.

If you want knee protection get Top King.

If you don't have issues with getting caught on the knee get Boon.

Ever wonder what your partners feeling? I avoid sparring with someone wearing those.

Yea that's what I did too. I just have a pair of century "not for contact" (explain that one) shin guards, wimpy cloth things. Just takes a bit of the edge out of the impact.

These will completely mold to your leg after a year and last forever without showing any signs of wear:

Oh god, this!

There's a guy at my class who wears thin cloth pads and he may as well be going bare shin! I'm glad he's conditioned to hell, but I feel like I've been worked over with a bat after sparring 2 rounds with him.

I would actually BUY him some proper pads if I didn't think he'd take it personally!

I have Twins right now. But from talking other people I train with it seems better to get the kind with hook and loop straps because you can secure them a lot tighter. The Fairtex and Top King ones have those enclosure. I will be in Thailand in a couple of weeks and probably will pick up some Top Kings while I'm there

Theres a guy who doesn't wear pads at all. I usually spar with him since he is more advanced and no one else wants to. Also I spar with two other guys who wear the same cloth ones as well.

If my partners felt something, they would tell me to ease up. I'm close to everyone in my gym. I'm not one of those "new" guys who just trained for a few months and starts wailing on others because I just started training ufc.
