I ask this because just about all my gear I use for the gym has seen better days for sure. I've also heard Combat Sports International is an affordable, decent brand for both gloves/gear to fight and train in. Any other good/affordable brands to look out for?

The answer will depend on what you you look for in gear.

What is your criteria for "overall best"?

One brand that might fit what you're looking for is Cageside. They have some pretty good prices.

Hayabusa isn't the cheapest, but boy, it's been my best gear for the last 7 years. My very first pair of shorts and rashguard are still in use today.

RYU apparel seems to last for the ages. Hayabusa is top of the line for fight equipment.

All the major brands are over priced for what they produce imo

If you wanted one brand to buy all your gear from, Hayabusa is at the top of the pile.

I don't feel like any one MMA brand covers everything for me, I need to mix and match.

Gloves: hayabusa
Clothes: Hayabusa, Punchtown, New shorter Venum shorts, Grips
Shinguards: No MMA brand is legit IMO...Ill go TK or fairtex
Headgear: Again, No MMA brand is legit, I like Winning and fairtex.

Hayabusa is up there for Mma gear but it is expensive. I have a belly pad from combat sports international...it suits my training needs.

Our customers love the Hayabusa gear. They also have a full range of stuff so that's good too.

i think if youre after t-shirts, rashguards and shorts then the best is clinch gear also try and get stuff when they have clear out sales they sell stuff for really cheap .

Agreed. Clearance prices are your best friend.

What country are you in? In Canada, shipping prices/availability shape the overall decision-- less stuff is made or distributed there, so gear with good value (after shipping and tax, if allowed) is more limited. They usually pick Hayabusa

I'm in the US so I'll say CageSide and RingToCage are the best value for your money. Two solid brands that tend to not overcharge but deliver quality at or above most of the big names. GoldenGear is another one to checkout (especially for headgear)

I was kind of wondering why no one was mentioning Ring to Cage. I haven't used any of their equipment myself, but I know others seem to really like it. I hope to soon purchase some C17s and focus mitts from them.

Ring to cage is all gear, not just pure mma which is why the mention never happened. Same with a lot of other companies that do it all.

Mma brands are pretty much overpriced and not worth it but people like them.

Some of the brands like hayabusa and venum do have some products that really shine but they also have some products that just fail also.
