What are your favorite Stephen King books???

Here's mine:

1. Dark Tower Series
2. On Writing
3. The Stand
4. The Green Mile
5. 11/22/63

i've only read the shining, geralds game and depseration. Of those 3, desperation was the best although it got real goofy towards the end.

I liked Desperation, though I think King does a terrible job writing dialogue for children.Eyes of the Dragon was very good.

I'll never forgive King for phoning in the end of the Dark Tower series. I haven't read a word from the guy since I finished that series.

edit- Prior to the DT, I had read everything he'd written.

I enjoy his novellas.
The Body, Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, both of these were great - and actually in the same book if I remember. "4 Seasons" or something it was called. I think it also had Apt Pupil in it as well.

Let me just skip the favorites, and go for some of his more under appreciated work:

Needful Things is probably my absolute favorite novel by King, and I've read almost all of them. [Haven't read the Dark Tower series, ironically. No spoilers please.]

Desperation is another fantastic novel.

The Long Walk. Not your typical horror story, but the first time I read it, I spent 4 hours on the couch, and finished the book. No breaks. Just couldn't put it down.

Gerald's Game. Another off-kilter horror story. Great writing and story telling. Maybe more of a suspense/thriller than horror, now that I think of it. Same for The Long Walk.

The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon.

Hearts In Atlantis. I know it got a movie, but the book itself is underrepresented in discussion on King.

Another thing I don't care for about King as I get older is his dependency on horrible shit happening to kids in his books. Read the Library Police or whatever it was called and see what I mean. Who writes shit like that?

Is It worth reading? I've heard mixed reviews.

I've never really liked any of his novels, although I think his DT series would make a better TV series than it is a book series. His short stories are way better.

Its a good story viewed as a whole. Its gets sidetracked from time to time. Some parts may be disturbing depending on what bothers you.
The girl getting gang banged at the end was odd and out of place IMO and goes back to what I was saying about Kings dependence on kids getting fucked up

Wow. On Writing is that high? Are you a writer? Would a non writer enjoy it or is it more pertinent to writers. Sorry for writing writing that many times.

interdasting...
no wonder they made it kid friendly in the made for tv version.

Interesting. I like the end of the DT. What about it felt phoned in to you?

There is a fair amount of filler and the ending is a letdown for some. Although considering the size of the book it is almost impossible to write a great ending after so much build up. I read it during the summer and many of the scenes have stuck with me. Some of it is truly great, and with a book that size you feel a sense of achievement after finishing it :P

Everything about the last 3 books. I mean, King actually wrote himself into the story. There were Harry Potter references (WTF?), there was no conforntation with the man in black. All that buildup and the guy gets eaten by a spider? Fuck off. I waited years and years for King to finish that story. Oh and everyone gets killed at the end but not really. They actually live happily ever after. Everything about those last 3 books was garbage.Garbage. But wait, lets see what the Tower is all about. Oh nothing. I see. Thanks Stephen. I honestly think its the worst ending to any series I've ever read.

My favorites are Bag of Bones, IT, the Stand, the Shining, and Gerald's Game, in that order. He's my favorite novelist.
