English, Chinese, = God mode especially as good looking latino or white guy in China. Could also live in singapore or enclaves in other south east countries where chinese overseas can be. If 1 billion speak english at good level in world, add 1,3 billion for chinese speakers most who do not speak good english.

English, Spanish= except for brazil and haiti the western hemisphere is yours. Spain to. Know spanish add over 550 million other speakers most whom do not speak great english.

English, French, Spanish= just awesome combo.

English, Russia= the former Soviet union countries today CIS countries and baltics are open to you. Also surprsingly used in mongolia by some. Some close to 300 million. Might grow as eurasian union and SCO expand with Russian.

English, Arabic= Arabic world is like 350 million strong. Over 20 countries speak it. Not easiest to travel to many closed off like former soviet sphere is and some dangerous. But if you like it go for it.

English, Arabic, French= God mode for Anglo countries, France, western switzerland, belgium, luxembourg, quebec, north africa. Most middle east.

more rare combos.

English, Spanish, Portuguese= Probably the best most fun combo for Anglos or westerners to want to know. Unlock brazil and portugal.

English, French, Spanish,

English, french, italian, spanish.

Super rare combos:

English, Chinese, Russian= You got east asia, former soviet sphere on lock. I feel whoever has this combo at a high fluent level is in a league above all others in world. I have only 1 person who could do this and they were low intermediate chinese level but will be good in years time.

English, Chinese, Hindi,

English, Chinese, Hindi, Russian

IMPOSSIBLE! (not really) but probably handfuls on earth and the B2 or higher level fluency in each is not likely.

+4 languages at +B2 fluency... quite rare especially if they are ACTUALLY different languages and not different dialects or similar like an italian knowing spanish, and learning english and then french.

English, Chinese, Hindi, Russian, Arabic, Spanish,

English, Japanese, Chinese, Russian,

English, Chinese, Spanish, Russian,

English, Chinese, Hindi, Russian,

English, Chinese, Arabic, Russian

etc.

English. If you speak anything else as a first language, you’re already on the back foot, and have to try to learn English.

I learned French and German, and they’re both fairly pointless. Useful if I’m on holiday in France, or watching German MILF porn, but that’s about it.

I always wanted to learn German. Because my Mum's German and I lived in Germany for 18 years so it's humiliating that I can't speak it at all. But now in terms of practicality I'll prob just learn Chinese instead

Always wanted to learn Russian as well because I love Russia. But I don't see them taking over the world before the Chinese

English/ Spanish/ French/ Portuguese: your money from the North Pole to the South Pole across the Americas (give or take some indigenous languages).

You're also good in Western Europe (England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Spain, France, and Portugal). And many of the other countries speak English or at least another language (likely French, Spanish, or German).

English, French, Spanish by a long shot. These are majority languages everywhere except much of Asia, and will still get you pretty far there. Spanish will also get you far in Portuguese-speaking countries like Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, etc.

French comes in handy in Africa. But you're right.

You’ll be pleased to know I have every line of that movie committed to memory. As every right-thinking person should.

yeah brazilian elites usually can speak spanish. hispanics dont speak portugese though. French i feel great but feel for english speaker or something (unless you want live in benlux/france area of world) or french part of west africa. I feel that spanish and english is the superior combo. The amount of french who would know english and the lack of french being the only language for large regions of world puts it below Russian, arabic, spanish, and chinese in my opinion as those languages spoken in many countries with over 300 million speakers who mostly do not know english and many countries speak those languages were knowing only english does not help you at all.

not to make that into this thread. but i see world becoming more multipolar and regional itself off. There so many signs of this. The need for everyone to know english was when we were in pure unipolar world and this was mostly towards end of Soviet union years. Before that the world was more split. with the eastern sphere focusing on chinese and russian and the western sphere on english. French was original linga franca of EU and only became #2 behind English in the EU once the cold war started to end and once the EU expanded to include eastern euro former warsaw pact countries. Those countries older populations taught Russian but the western euros did not know it so the elites chose english to be the franca. As the SCO and other things expand and as USA find it inevitable world become more multipolar i would not be surprised to see a similar split in world again. Where maybe the elite elite of each region speaks english but were the governments will choose the major langauge of their regional trading partner. also North african and western african coutnries have their own languages but they learned french because the french colonization and because it was most relevant.

That may come back as USA eventually becomes less powerful as china rises, india rises, brazil rises, and MERCOSUR and south american union rise. Not to mention eurasian union, ASEAN, and EU trying to promote more french.

did you take lessons? or even study.. how is that possible. 18 years? Chinese is so difficult for native english speaker. Amazing when i meet chinese person with good english but then you find out it because they had english shotgun blasted into their brain for 20 something years.

yeah the % of people who speak more than 3 languages actually at A2 or above is pretty low. But the romance language thing is true and helps but french is the weirdest of group i think. I met and it seems pretty common to meet people who speak english, french, spanish, even met before 2 people who spoke italian, english, spanish and french or Spanish, french, english, portugese (met girl on tinder who spoke those 4 of which her french was the worst she said but here spanish and Portuguese amazing and good english)

English, Portuguese and Spanish for me.
French is weak, German is almost non-existent.

I've got over 15 countries done. I love collecting flags.

Never heard of languages referred to as combos.

If you want to make money from courts in Hawaii being required to allow English speakers to speak only in Hawaiian in court proceedings, Hawaiian + English. Tax dollars at work here. This is why we can't have nice things.
