Besides FKL, who is a viable option for gaethje?

I have a strong feeling that Dustin poirier will be fighting nate diaz next on the same card as masvidal vs nick, and that if justin gaethje remains inactive conor will get the next shot at the belt with a win over cerrone at ww. So to avoid that travesty, and make the landscape smoother it seems to me FKL is the only viable option.

For one if FKL wins, which i highly doubt, there is at least the intrigue of a wrestler taking on khabib or the tony Ferguson rematch. Beyond that though 1.5 round FKL will be the sternest test for the patient Gaethje strategy. While it won't answer all the questions we have, this fight can be booked on the same card as khabib vs tony, as an injury reserve insurance policy and line up the next contender clearly and nicely

Conor needs to step up.

He's #3 in that division.

Fight LW or vacate the rankings!

Or Pettis

Pettis, dos anjos already booked.

Don't think oliveira does much for him at this point. Although I'm pretty confident he would knock do bronx out

Nobody really does anything for him. He just needs another KO to keep busy.
Everyone is ranked below him.
The only worthy contenders are Ferguson, Dustin and Conor. Ferguson and Conor are tied up. And going through another brutal war with Dustin might be nice to clean up his record but I don't know if it really moves him that much closer to a title shot.
Oliveira has been asking for a ranked opponent, Justin needs a fight to stay busy.
Plus I like watching Justin kill people.

If he smashed Islam then that'd give him a good line going into a Khabib match.

Kevin "The Motown Duck" Lee has already ducked Gaethje several times in the past , I dont think he will stop ducking now either.

It's still sad that Conor is fighting Cerrone instead of Gaethji. I might watch the fight somewhere like a bar, if it were guethji i'd order it

He should get Tony / Khabib winner or be ready to step in if someone gets injured again.

You know the problem with sitting out is recency bias
He’s done enough though to take half a year off and not be completely forgotten. Especially if his title shot would be announced directly after Khabib - Tony. The problem is that Khabib needs 9 months for recovery and his Ramadan shit if he wins.

Sad as it is for a fan like me to say but Justins best option right now is to sit his ass down.
Either Tony,Conor or Khabib will need someone to fight next and he'll have his pick from them.

Ferguson and Khabib aren't even fighting until April 2020, there is no reason in the world for JG to sit on the bench.

He's gone 4-2 in the UFC, getting KO'd by the two best guys he fought. There is no imperative for him to be next in line, he should fight and secure his spot.

JG -vs- Kevin Lee is a fun matchup.

Prepare for the worst hope for the best. Anyone with a brain wants to see gaethje fight t ferg for the fireworks of course, but the likelihood of justin sitting out for a long ass time if khabib wins is 100 % legitimate

Barboza has one a single fight in his last 5. Almost as a rule he loses to ranked fighters. Cowboy has a 2-2 record in his currently lightweight run, and was coming off a TKO loss.

These aren't the type of wins that make you the #1 contender where you can sit out for 8-10 months. JG needs to fight.

So far the best two guys he fought both knocked him out. He's been fighting up the easier side of the division since.
