Not sure what martial art he is trying to show in his stand-up but it's absolutely horrible to watch. He has fought over 10 years in MMA and doesn't seem to understand anything about basics of boxing.

Punk would probably light him up on Boxing fight

I have only over 2 years striking experience and I would destroy Askren or Punk in any striking fight.

I've seen kids train for a couple of months and have way better striking than Askren or Punk. They're both complete garbage.

There's some kids at the local highschool football team that would wreck his shit in a boxing match. would watch

it's disrespectful to MMA to think he can walk into the octagon and have success at this level doing that, he would've been KO'd again if he was facing one of these up and comers.

It's never good when the viewing public are thinking "man... I think I could knock that dude out" about a UFC fighter.

It just sad when you see such a high level wrestler who dont give a fuck about striking and who is so slow because of lack of athletism.

Askren striking is on beginner level.

true, but none of them would in an actual fight.

ben is very one dimensional, but he's pretty good at what he does. people who don't train and think they could beat him up are retarded.

Oh I agree, but just the fact that we're seriously having this discussion is a bad look.

His striking against Maia was better than I expected. His uppercut was very effective. His striking is still horrible but I saw improvement. What was surprising to me was how bad he was outclassed on the ground. He was able to take down Maia but once it got to the ground he was outclassed. I don't think Maia cares about being taken down, usually nobody even tries except Jake Shields. Maia in MMA grappling looked liike a third degree black belt while Askren looked like a purple belt. I was very surprised that Askren had nothing for Maia on the ground.

He looked sloppy but honestly all rounds were pretty close vs Maia. The most important thing should be effectiveness. And there have been guys and girls who are not effective at all.

In all my years training in combat sports, I've seen a lot of novice's walk in off the street and reach a pretty good level in even less than 2 years. Not sure if your trolling, but it's not that hard to believe that you may have better striking than Askren.

Not years, if you are athletic and have competed ins sports like football (soccer), a couple of months and I think you'd have better kickboxing then Askren.
