Rumored Ben Askren wants another shot..

he said thats the only fight he'd come out retirement for, not that he actually wants another fight

Ben with a new hip as well, think Mas would still win but if Ben got him down (which he would if he had a hold of him) then it may well be long night for Mas

I said Jorge had that fight and people didn't believe me. I think my thread got merged though and just when you thought it couldn't get worse for Ben, he goes and gets KO'd by Jake Paul.

Anyway, Jorge would take it again, but I wouldn't fault Ben for wanting to try again.

Masvidal would never take that rematch. His star power and persona is basically based off this KO when it comes to casual fans.

Any different result would be a lose situation for Jorge

Yea but this is what he does for a living. It’s a big fight that would be heavily promoted.

Jorge is probably a little too spry for Ben. Prime Ben probably grinds out a UD but I think he’d get pieced up in the shape he’s i

Yeah that's what i was thinking, and Masvidal is nowhere near title shot now, Usman has a rematch with Leon, and then Khamzat should be next if he Nate doesn't pull something crazy... Askren rematch might be a big payday and we know he needs money.

Isn't Masvidal as we speak involved in some legal case where he might end up in jail?

I know going to jail is cool and all, but going to jail for sucker punching someone you just lost a fight with? That's not looking good, imo.

Lol, it's a winnable fight that could sell pretty well. If Jorge is still interested in fighting at all (legal crap aside) he'd take that fight in a heartbeat. He knows he needs a win right now.

But this fight isn't happening honestly. Too many things in the way and I don't think the UFC would be all that interested.

Could go different this time..

I think it would go differently 9 out of 10 times if I were honest. But we don't need it to. It went that way once and it's in the past. That rematch never even nearly happens.

He didnt get KO'd by Paul though, he got knocked down, got straight back up and the crooked ref stopped it, at no point was he out

I agree. It's a lose-lose scenario - if Jorge loses the fight, then he lost to a retired fighter who left combat sports on a decline. If he wins, thrn he just beat a retiree. Lastly, if he wins by anything other than a complete and instantaneous destruction, the allure of the first fight will fade.

Homie got sparked out by Jake Paul.

He’s way too far past his prime for a rematch with Mas.

Although prime Askren probably wrestles Mas into the ground for 15-25 minutes.

However you see it, it doesn't change my point that losing to Jake Paul is quite a fall from grace even when it isn't his sport.

That being said, boxing is different. The ref let Ben up and watched how he was moving and called that fight. He probably saved Ben from a pretty horrific Masvidal level KO.

Any fight that ends in a few seconds will almost certainly go differently. That knee was not lucky, but a very infrequent and unlikely event... But even if he beats Masvidal, so what? He's damaged goods after that fight and the Paul fight, I don't see why the UFC would want to invest in trying to make him credible again
