News Bellator Paris Just Got Cancelled

Interesting... I don't think they were selling tickets, been checking regularly and the numbers were pretty much the same last week as they were 6 hours after going on sale, which means bots took most.

Considered going but couldn't bring myself to booking flights and hotels for this exact reason. The fight game isn't worth it.

Not surprised … this crap has been a mess since the beginning… and like anything PFL touches, non profitable … kill Bellator already

Every time I see Paramount in the news regarding something they are selling off, or some thing they screwed up doing, I get sad about Bellator.

At least in the US, Bellator will likely be the last big company with an old era presentation. Now it's all corporate and sanitized. It going away is the closure to the Strikeforce, EliteXC, WEC, and pre-uniform UFC era.

What's the reason(s) given as to why it was cancelled?

They had to move Eblen/Edwards to the upcoming PPV because the card wouldn't have been good enough for Saudi. My guess is it's similar with them just canceling this card to load for Dubai.

It's what happens when you buy a promotion, cut half the roster and move most of the remaining to the PFL season. In addition to that, it's hard to justify any of the season fighters being high on any of these cards, because their season ended in a loss.

It wasn't Eblen/Edwards, that was moved from the London card. Apparently it's to do with the Baki fight but cancelling that shouldn't cause them to have to cancel a whole card imo as I love Baki but he's just a prospect at this point rather than a guy who if he falls off your card the whole thing is fucked if you're a major promotion.

What happened with the Baki fight? Someone pulled out?

I was talking about two different cards.

Do you know when the Dubai card is? 2024 or 2025? I know they have been teasing it with the #roadtodubai

I am confused was thinking that Fernand was just a can (a French one) to build up Baki that should be easy to replace cans are common.
Fernand Lopez isn't fighting Baki. Fernand hasn't fought in years. I believe he was Baki's manager at some point with the MMA Factory and Factory management team and he was the president of ARES. He has was removed from his positions at the MMA Factory, Factory management and ARES. He is still involved, but on a smaller scale as he's the matchmaker (or helps with matchmaking) for ARES and is the head coach at MMA Factory.
