Heyo, just throwing up a small collection of photos from the Monster Cup 2014 that just happened. Given that I do Matchmaking and Talent Coordination for Tuff-N-Uff, I was brought on to assist their TC. Was a lot of fun, albeit a tiring affair.

After the lackluster Oct. 17 card, Bellator holding another show a day later confirms my fears about over-saturation of the product.

How did people react? Did people at the event actually care about the fights? Or were they surprised and like "Wtf is this?" Did the outdoor cage cause any problems for the fighters?

People there were definitely into it. They had already paid to be at the day-long events. It was timed to be in between events already going on that day, so there were plenty of people that gravitated to it.

As far as the crowd reactions during the fight. They were not intense, but also not uncaring. It's kind of a grab-bag since you had a lot of people that didn't even know it would be happening. Some people had no idea what MMA was. Others were super excited to see a free three-fight show.

They were just looking to cross-promote with the Motocross fans, which makes sense. Smart idea if you ask me.

OMGBBQNRA BEST CARD EVER!!!!1

Cain Velasquez, look out, Dan Charles is coming for that belt! And since he's only got four minutes of stamina, you know he's looking for the KO!!!

Ebartlett, you TOTALLY missed out on the top prospects on 2014 all in one place!

Cage looked small, not circular.

No jib.

Jade, Mercedes? Michael C. Williams?

It was a one-hour show that was to cross-promote with the motocross crowd. Scott Coker, Rampage, and a few others were there, but it wasn't the normal show/stable of workers.

Charles seems like a decent HW, nothing special but could be good feeder for their higher ranked guys.

He's pretty green is all. Plus he was underweight and a last-minute replacement for that fight. So I'd say he's pretty darn good. He trains under Aaron Simpson and Ryan Bader.

Unfortunately he severely broke his hand in the fight (in the first round) so he's going to be shelved for about 12 weeks.

There were initially 4 fights slated.

Yup, and one fell out. Then Maruice Jackson fell out of the main event... and was essentially asked to "lose Bellator's number". He's got an unfortunate story. A lot of wasted talent.

thanks for sharing, pretty cool. I hope they do more stuff like this except air the fights in the future somewhere.

What happened with him?

What happened with him?

Jackson has an unfortunate history of dropping out of bouts for various reasons. He also has three NCs out of his six bouts.

I don't want to get into conjecture, but sufficed to say Bellator is tired of dealing with him. Don't know who would work with him given the track record, but there's usually someone.

It's really unfortunate because he's a good guy as far as to talk to at the gym and hang out with him. He's also got some serious talents. He just seems to find reasons not to fight.

I always thought he would be a better fit at 205, he seems to have trimmed up quite a bit lately.

Also, why was this a No Contest? ^

He's legit 6'9/6'10. Would be hard to make 205.

Shortest guy here is just under 6'4

Damn that's too bad. I was so excited to see more of him after his fight in Bellator. Such a shame
