Probably a part of it, given what a dumb cunt Dana is.
But remember the UFC has a long history of treating (established, and top level) fighters from other orgs as ameatures if they don't already have a big US presence or offer a big financial boon to the UFC for whatever reason.
Theres a reason guys like Mamed Khalidov got laughable UFC offers and stayed in their respective orgs.
Nemkov and the rest of Fedor Team got a very good contract with Bellator, it was a big reason why Fedor even came back- to get his guys a good deal.
Nemkov also picked up a nice mil with that tourney win- how long do you think (barring extreme luck) would it take him to make that kind of scratch in the UFC?
Plus its been heavily rumored and implied the UFC has unofficial quotas on fighters from different regions/countries, and they have not picked up some Russian talent because of said quota.
To be fair, good on them for not bowing to politics like certain orgs in Europe have.
Agreed. It's too bad because Nemkov would be an incredible addition to the roster. He has history with both Jiri from DREAM and fought and lost to Ankalaev many years ago in an amateur tournament so there are some compelling stories there for the UFC to build on. Not to mention a potential fight with Poatan with Fedor in his corner and Rogan talking about it while commentating. It would be awesome. Sucks to see U FIGHT CHEAP drop the ball like this.
