Junior Tafa shares his Samoan heritage with legendary fighters such as Ray Sefo and Mark Hunt. The latter is a close friend and training partner of his, aswell as his older brother and future HOF’er Justin Tafa.

He’s a total madman:cool: #TafaGang

Back in 2018 Tafa participated in a GLORY 8-man heavyweight tournament at just 22-years of age. The idea of matchmaking for this tournament was to let the four "new" names choose one of the established names as their opponent for the opening-fight.
The young Junior Tafa was the first one to choose an opponent, and he got right at tournament favorite Jamal Ben Saddik, who stands 6’9”.

Here is their staredown and altercation right after Junior choose Ben Saddik, Tafa kinda being dressed like a gangster, and their pre-fight interview afterwards where they look ahead at the fight:

Here’s their fight:

Tafa came short against JBS, but no shame in that (though the problem with his cup was very amateurish) as Jamal is one of the best heavyweights in the world and went on to win the whole thing (and with just one hand in the final, because he broke his right/dominant hand in the semi-finals):

A year before this, Junior Tafa fought against Benjamin Adegbuyi in the final of a 4-man heavyweight tournament at just 21-years of age.
Benny hurt Junior’s legs and ultimately stopped the fight with Tafa unable to continue:

Imo Junior Tafa got himself in the mix with the big names way too early in his career (he went 3-4 (3KO’s) in GLORY), probably as a result of having an impressive first round finish in his GLORY-debut at his young age:

Junior Tafa was in bad shape during his GLORY-days, carrying way to much weight. He appears to have lost a lot of weight and his shape is way better now.
It also looks like he developed a lot during the last few years, having a more calculated fighting-style nowadays. He’s got some good boxing-skills, his overhand being very tricky.

Here’s his most recent MMA-fight (finish):

And his most recent boxing-fight (finish):

It looks like Dana White is super pumped for his UFC-debut! :

He looks like a different person physically than he did in GLORY sir.
Well see what he's all about in the cage tonight though.

<{cuts}>

Tafa

The Samoan boys always win a power striker battle

I don’t predict this fight will be super technical.

aswell as his older brother and future HOF’er Justin Tafa.
huh-wtf.gif

Shouldn't Usman be able to wrestlefuck this kickboxer based on... just having that last name? If not, then Tafa should win by KO. Usman got knocked out in PFL, I don't remember by who so that's says something. And that guy he put away on the TUF finals, Pauga, well he is an actual LHW, not a true HW.

Tafa would be different if he is used to be fighting those giants, Usman would have nothing for him on the feet.

I dunno. I just watched all the clips here and wasnt really impressed.

i thought it was a big mistake for him to call out Ben Saddik. Tafa needed more seasoning and he needed to learn how to fight a big guy like Ben Saddik who fights big. the thing with his cup to me was just an excuse, he was going to get pieced up anyway.

he does look in way better shape than he did in Glory though so i give him that.

That dude Adedbuyi is just massive.
Taking leg kicks from him..... F that!!

and Saddik is even bigger lol

I remember him getting tko-ed by Adegbuyi. Was not aware he signed for the UFC, somehow missed that. Usman looks too slow, but has power and I assume He’s good at grappling, so it could be fun. If he tries to box like his last fight, Tafa takes him out.

With so many in the bloated UFC roster I only hear about on their 10th UFC fight, why do I know Junior Tafa before his debut? I thought this was his 5th UFC fight.

Anyways, voted for Mooseman.

Yeah I just checked out his weight.... 252lbs now and his last fight in December....he weighed in at 265lbs.
So he has clearly gone on a diet / nutrition program. probably just cut out junk food i'd guess. hopefully he's worked on his cardio too.

There's JUSTIN Tafa and JUNIOR Tafa and they're different people.

This guy is Junior, he is 6'3" and making his UFC debut against Kamaru UIsman's larger brother Mohammed.
