Sick fight. Barcelona has momentum and Assuncao doesn’t, but Assuncao is still looking decent enough imo. He got caught early by Marlon and then had to deal with a huge BW in Sandhagen and a much faster fighter in Cody. He’s past his best at this point but he’s still a tough out. If Barcelona beats him then he belongs in the top 10 and can then start campaigning for a fight that would get him close to the title.
I don't understand the article's explanation for the Merab fight not happening. Was the UFC or Merab not willing to wait for that contract? Much better fight IMO, even though it ran the risk of derailing one "prospect" with another.
Oh well, I'll enjoy the hell out of this one, too.
Barcelos is typically an exciting fighter, but Assunção has an uncanny ability to make fights slow and boring. I got Barcelos here, but Assunção is still very skilled
Oof, not doing any favors for Assuncao coming off 3 straight losses. I guess he’s transitioning into that phase of his career where he’s just a former contender for the new breed to build their name off of.
