Media Arnold Allen wants to fight Brian Ortega

Arnold will beat the brakes off him.

Yair is lucky too, Dana is pushing the Mexican market and he got gifted an interim off a win over overrated Ortega.

Allen vs Giga makes no sense. Does nothing for Allen. Giga is almost 35, inactive for over a year and got beat badly in his last fight. Doesn't deserve that. They should just try to book him against Sodiq again.
 
Ortega is another fighter who can continue high energy output for the duration of a fight.
I'd love to see it but I'd also like to see it after Ortega returns and shows us where he is at against a lower ranked opponent. How is his health? Does he have rust?
Ortega has only 19 fights in 13 years but his recent fights have shown some big damage taken, plus injury.

I think Allen will have learned from his mistakes against Holloway already. His output and pacing, aswell as adjustments in his skillset. He knows that he needs to knock off the rank squatters and get his way back in to fight Max again sooner, rather than later.

Sodiq has an spinal issue, his career might be over honestly. I don't know, you seem new to things but Allen is 29 and just lost to Max, he's a minimum of 2 wins away from a title shot and more likely 3. Sometimes fighters just need a bounce back fight, Ortega is ideal but if it doesn't get made it's better he doesn't wait I think. He already beat Kattar and lost to Max, Yair vs Volk, Evloev vs Mitchell,,Topuria vs Emmett are booked it really just leaves KZ or Giga to pin down for 3-4 months down the road realistically.
 
UFC is a clownshow. He should've gotten a shot without needing to go through Max, how is a 10-0 streak not good enough when they just let Yair have the shot from Ortega popping his shoulder?

Totally agree. The rankings are a joke.

The thing with Ortega is we never really know how good he is, because he just doesn't fight much, he has long gaps of not fighting and then suddenly just shows up and he is like a different fighter. Like the KZ fight.. Ortega was like a totally different fighter, his boxing was a billion times better than before. But thats because he barely ever fights so you never really know how much he has improved or got worse. I'm happy he is not champion though, because I don't fancy the FW belt defended once every 2 years, I'm already sick and tired of all the inactive champs.. thats why I respect Adesanya, at least he actually fights

I don't even pay attention to rankings anymore, Rankings should be base on activity in a calendar year basis. Ortega shouldn't even be the in the rankings that high up.

I think we saw a ceiling of what Allen can do. He is good top level fighter, but I think he will never ever at that next level. Only few can though I'm sure.

He just hasnt fought much and can't say was one of the guys I looked out for, but handful for anybody.

I'd prefer to see Topuria vs Emmet winner vs Allen. It will be a good test for Topuria if he pulls it off.

Then you decide if its worth risking another challenger to Max or...
 
I want to see Evloev/Mitchell winner vs Ortega. Id love this fight.

Don't care much for this Allen/Ortega fight. Even without seeing it, I can kinda see how that one would play out, though obviously I can't predict the outcome clearly.
 
Ortega could do with an easy bounce back fight to get another win and then a title shot again afterwards. An easy win over Allen will get Ortega that title shot.

Why is Ortega overrated? Just because he hasn't won many fights recently?

I would say Allen is at minimum only 1 win away from a title shot if he beats the right opponent and looks impressive doing it. Just look at how many top contenders Volk has already beaten and the fact that KZ lost to Ortega and then got a title shot after 1 win.
 
Allen needs to fight with this hairstyle. It would be so wicked.
