Are there movies that should never be remade?

I'm always apprehensive to go see a remake if I loved the original. I am not talking about sequels, just remakes.

Once in a while they get it right, but I often find the original to be better. Maybe it's a nostalgia thing.

Which movies should Hollywood leave alone because they got it fight the first time?

Unless it's like Disney remaking their animated movies into live action or a situation where it's so old that current generations either can't really enjoy it as is without modern technology or if that tech greatly enhances it, I don't think most movies should be remade. They seem to just be safe cash grabs and with so many books and old stories that could just as easily be adapted, remakes just seem lazy.

I agree. But movies have been around for many decades. It's hard to come up with something that hasn't already been covered in some way before.

The Wicker Man was one of the worst remakes I think, I love the original, very good movie!!, must have seen it 10+ times. The remark was horrific, and Cage just didn't suit the role at all, it was really bad I thought

True. I loved Will Smith in I am Legend but this was the 3td time that movie had been made. Previous versions were Last Man on Earth and Omega Man. All same story from same novel.

I really enjoy the live action film of The Grinch as well as the old cartoon.

However, they've made this new Grinch that just came out and I am thoroughly rustled. It looks like bland soulless shit. And I can already foresee me, a few years from now, going through my TV guide and seeing "The Grinch" is on, getting excited, only to put it on and discover it's this new version. Jimmies will be on maximum rustle.

I don't really mind a remake if the original movie is really old. But I agree, they do have too many remakes.

For example, Spiderman comes to mind. I remember they had the 2002-2007 movies which aren't even old. They did a first reboot from 2012-2014 then another reboot in 2018. I mean cmon lol
