Besides shit like 6'6 Carwin and 5'11 Anderson Silva, can we generally trust the UFC's height and reach measurements?

I'm a little skeptical about reaches measurements. Everyone's reach in the UFC is like 10-20cm(4-8in) over their height and mma isn't a sport like basketball where 90% of the athletes in the NBA have the same body structure.

It is not correct. By UFC standards I am 6'3.

Donald Cerrone has had like 3 different billed heights in his last 3 fights.

I'm talking about the official UFC measurements, not the stupid tale of the tape that comes on before the fights. I'm also talking about generally, not a few "carwins."

You can assume they're all an inch or two shorter in real life. This has been consistamt with every fighter I've met that was in the UFC.

They give correct measurements on fighters people genuinely give a shit about.

Gustaffson had a 77" reach up until he fought Jones. People actually listened when he said the UFC is usually wrong with their measurements because he was fighting the champ.

They still have Shogun at 6'1, while Maia was listed at 6'0 for a big while lol

I remember thinking everyone, including Phil Davis looked small at the last weigh in I went to. But it's a weigh in. I'm 6'1 so a UFC 6'4. My wingspan is 80.5 inches. Where you at Jon Jones?

*Waits for the Carwin-Lesnar TOTT.

Edit: I mean Carwin-Mir.

Nobody has posted it yet.

this happens in ALL sports. Its strange and I dont get the point of it?

It's not very accurate.

I don't know why they can't have someone measure their height and reach upon signing them. It'd take maybe 5 minutes.

Hard for them to be accurate when fighters like Carwin cut height before fights.

I find it hard to believe that Gustaffson has only a 77" reach, dude is 6'5'' and lanky. I believe the 81.5 inch reach they had him at for the Jones fight more than 77''.

I think for the most part they are usually right but many times they are wrong. Machida is a legit 6'1 for instance, Weidman is a legit 6'2. But often they are wrong like Mcgregor at 5'11 lol.

Amanda Nunes is listed at 5'5 and looked Julia Budd dead in the eye. Expect a Mir vs Carwin moment when she fights Zingano lol.

Instead of asking fighters their height and reach UFC officials should measure it.

I would say 90% of them are exaggerated by at least 1-2 inches, more for reach (WWE does this all time too, Hulk Hogan is 6'8" if you believe them lol)
