If you're on top in the ground, could you drop a 12-6 elbow to your opponent's body, or is it illegal?

Or is it only illegal if it's to the face/head and back/spine?

ive also wondered this, surely its only illegal when its to the head but who knows?

Just illegal to the head or the headphone area I believe.

Bro, those kind of elbows can break blocks of ice. If you allow people to do 12-6 elbows on the body, you'll see people snapped in two in the octagon. No way the commission allows that.

Yes.

I couldn't be bothered to look it up, but if you simply google "MMA rules" you will find that there is no mention of "to the face/head/back/spine.

Edit; or just follow the link above ^^^

It doesn't matter where the strike lands if you go by the book but in practice its more likely not to be deemed a foul if its to the body.

see Romero v Brunson

illegal anywhere
You could really mess a guys glutes up with that one. Major charlie horse

I believe so, that said, I'm not entire sure.

I do remember people having the same question over this due to the Romero-Brunson fight.

Illegal to any part of the body.

The jon jones chin butt to the gut of vera i think is the best strike ever... Come to think of it, what we know now about jones, eye pokes etc, was he really that unaware that he was breakig the rules against hamill?

12-6 elbows are illegal, period.

I've been walking around with an elbow hole in my ribs from a 12-6 blow. Upside is I can eat anything I want and it just goes out the hole.

EDIT: I am drinking leftover champagne today so if that sounds stupid I have a legit reason.

Not if your Greg the hammer valentine leaping off the top turnbuckle
