Why should there be a weight division every 10lbs? And then these same people who want to add 165lbs, 195lbs, and 225lbs also then want to remove the HW limit?

Why?

You are adding more weight divisions cause you are trying to make "Ultimate fighting" more 'fair' which is a joke cause not everyone is equal physically or genetically. Certain fighters cause of their genetics will have a huge advantage over others athletically and no amount of adding weight divisions will change that.

So my question is, where is the 235lb division? What about the 245lb? What about 255?

We need

235lb division
245lb
255lb
265lb
275lb
285lb
295lb
305lb
315lb
etc

At the very least we need a 235lb, 245lb, 255lb, 265lb, 275lb and 285lb division cause there are fighters in the UFC who weigh between this range.

Even boxing doesn't have that, there's an understanding that above a certain weight the advantage of more weight is lessened and a skilled fighter above that certain weight can be competitive against any size human.

That weight of course being a 135 lb woman.

Nah what? You agree with more divisions to baby fighters and water down the sport for all lower weight classes but not for the massive gap between 205lbs and 265lbs?

If anything NO new weight classes are needed except for 1 in between the HW limit. Say a 240lb weight class and then a 280lb weight class that has no max limit.

Boxing is a joke now. Dana isn't wrong when he has said that and that it is by and large dying. MMA will dethrone it eventually and sooner or later i'd imagine Kickboxing will take Boxing's place in the western world (as it already has done in the East).

Also, where are the scientists to say it doesn't matter how big the weight discrepancy is when you are above 225lbs but it all of a sudden does between 185lbs and 205lbs or 185lbs and 220lbs?

The current weight classes the UFC has is perfect if anything what they should do is eliminate weight cutting and raise the maximum weight allowed for each division by 10lbs to 15lbs and 25lbs for heavier divisions.

LW: 155lbs to 170lbs
WW: 170lbs to 188lbs
MW: 189lbs to 205lbs
LHW: 206lbs to 230lbs
HW: 230lbs to 265lbs

etc. And id say raise LHW from 205lbs to 210lbs or 215lbs.

Why do you say they are the same people?

Cause from what I have seen on here they typically are.

Kickboxing doesn't have a ton of weight classes above 200 lbs either. But I guess you don't actually want 10 weight classes there and the OP was just being facetious...

Adding weight classes is the dumbest waste of time there is. All that will happen now is people will suck a little more weight or eat an extra hamburger so they can be a champ champ...it only works if they put in a stipulation that people can't jump weight classes and keep a belt in a different division... it's only good for the UFC because that will allow them to have title fights on every card, which may stop them from making a few dumb interim title fights.

Are you trolling. The Top kickboxing organizations don't have that many weight classes. And typically heavyweight is +210lbs or 220lbs. Weight classes below them have wider ranges except that 10lbs only becomes common at really low weight classes.

Glory has only 6 weight classes.

Featerweight: 143lbs
Lightweight: 154lbs
Welterweight: 170lbs
Middleweight: 187lbs
Light heavyweight: 209lbs
Heavyweight: 209lbs to no limit

K1: Has 7

Superheavy weight: No limit
Cruiserweight: 220.5lb
Supermiddle weight: 154lbs
Superwelter weight: 143lbs
Superlight weight: 137lbs
Superfeather weight: 132lbs
Superbantam weight: 121lbs

All Japan Kickboxing Federation: has 8

Bantamweight: 118lb
Featherweight: 26lb
Super Featherweight: 130lb
Lightweight: 135lb
Welterweight: 147lb
Super Welterweight: 154lb
Middleweight: 160lb
Heavyweight No weight limit

It's showtime has 7

61MAX: 134.5lbs
65MAX: 143.3lbs
70MAX: 154.3lbs
73MAX: 160.9lbs
77MAX: 169.8lbs
85MAX: 187.4lbs
95MAX: 209.4lbs

Most organizations have 7-8 or 10 max.

Only Muay thai organizations and World kickboxing and the karate branches have like 18 weight classes because they have a ton of super manlet divisions (under 135lbs) they got like 105lbs, 110lbs, 115lbs, 120lbs, 125lbs, its like for real ?

The heavier you are, the less weight difference matters. So no.

Oh so being 200lbs now isn't heavy?

What about 195lbs of mostly muscle?

Dude anyone above 170lbs who is mostly muscle and is a male is a pretty strong and muscular guy which is your average mma fighter. The average American man is 5'9 and 195lbs and thinks he is 'big' but really he is carrying 50-60lbs of fat on him and he doesn't even lift!

10lb weight differences only make sense if you eliminate weight cutting and if it exists at low low weight classes like 120lbs, 130lbs, 140lbs, or 125lbs, 135lbs, 145lbs, once you get above 150lbs they aren't needed and they just water stuff down.

I wasn't saying kickboxing has a ton of weight classes, I said the very opposite. I was referring to your OP where you suggested having a weight class every 10 lbs above 205 as facetious.

I was just saying that anyone who wants more weight classes below 200lbs should also want them above 200lbs otherwise they are just being foolish and hypocritical by and large.

I like Glory's weight classes or how Dream had it or ONE FC

One Fc

has (for men)

Atomweight: 110lbs
Straweight: 121lbs
Flyweight: 132lbs
Bantamweight: 143lbs
Featherweight: 154lbs
Lightweight: 165lbs
Welterweight: 176lbs
Middleweight: 198lbs
Cruiserweight: 220lbs
Heavyweight: 265lbs

Or DREAM

  • 60 kilograms (132 lb) – Bantamweight
  • 65 kilograms (143 lb) – Featherweight
  • 70 kilograms (154 lb) – Lightweight
  • 75 kilograms (165 lb) – Welterweight
  • 85 kilograms (187 lb) – Middleweight
  • 95 kilograms (209 lb) – Light Heavyweight
  • no upper limit – Heavyweight

Yeah I skimmed it and my first reply was assuming you were serious about 215, 225, 235 etc, then I reread it and realized you were being sarcastic.

I have no idea what you're babbling about but you seem to be disagreeing with me, so I therefore declare you an idiot.

Are there enough skilled big men to make it work?

Face it guys, it's a manlets world and we're just living in it.

I like the weight classes just the way they are. Adding more weight classes will only make current weight classes more shallow. Heavyweight has just started to gain momentum with new and fresh talent. Last thing we need is for Heavyweight to be made more shallow.

225 -230 would be welcome. Big gap between LHW and HW. An open weight above 265 too for super heavies like former Sumo and other giants. Bob Sapp was a big draw once upon a time.

10lbs kind of arbitrary , a climbing percentage might be more practical.

Simple example 125 + 10% then 138 + 11% etc...

As mentioned weight differences higher up less of a factor tapers .

This may be the stupidest thing I have ever seen on this website
