watching that Road to the Octagon for UFC on Fox 5?

Really liking BJ's new modest attitude and although Rory is from only a few hundred kilometers away from me, I'm hoping BJ can pull off the upset.

After watching it I kinda feel BJ penn lost his edge in fighting. Sure his super fit and all but I dont think his reason to go back to the ring is a good reason at all.

I agree. I don't know what BJ's reason is for fighting, but it's not to be the best in the world anymore.

Not really BJ is so full if himself its unbelievable just can't stand him hell of a fighter one of.the best ever but strikes me as someone who literally only cares about himself and everyone in his life is there for his benefit.

Didn't watch it, what's his reason?

His reason along the line is he felt he is no longer the main topic in becoming the all time great and he is losing his status among the MMA community. Really he is fighting this match to stay relevant in today MMA. In my view he is already a legend and pioneer in MMA/UFC. I just like to see him fight in 155 instead of 170, I could see better match up there than 170.

Speaking of, I haven't been following as closely lately and haven't really heard what the deal with Matt Hughes is. Did he finally retire?

I dont know about Matt Hughes but for BJ penn Dana white said recently if BJ Penn loss his fight with Rory he might retire. If he wins though it could open up alot new paths for BJ Penn.

Let's forget that he was called out by Rory and that was reason for him coming back also.

After watching that it's safe to say BJ will be on suicide watch if he loses on Saturday

I know you are joking but I dont think BJ penn wouldnt do that when he cried about how his kids are growing up and wanting to be with them.

He wants to be a top 3 p4p fighter. There's only one way to do that for him. He has to beat GSP. Isn't the reason for most of the people fighting in the UFC to be the champ and the best? He may not have to fight for a living, but I'm sure he would still like to make a little (or a lot, depending on how you look at it) for his family. I think he has about as much hunger as a wealthy and former two division champ could possibly be.

He might not even get past Rory, and it is unlikely for him to even fight let alone beat GSP. However, I bet he still thinks he can and wants to try regardless of what we all think. Motivated Penn is mostly a myth and partially a joke at this point. I think he was motivated in his losses. I believe he just makes the worst decisions regarding training he could be making. We will see what this camp has done to improve an already impressive fighter.

I do like him more after. I think the only reason I started disliking him was because if his shit talking with GSP.

On a side note, I thought BJ was rich. Why is he living in a tiny frat looking house?

its funny that anderson silva only fights for his legacy now. he has said it a load of times, but bj says it and all of a suddon he is fighting for the wrong reason?

bj will smash rory if he is infact in shape. just because he has a little more abs than usual and some low body fat it doesnt mean he can keep up with rory for 3 rounds. we will see saturday. if bj is in shape though i think he will destroy rory everywhere.

Didn't make me like him anymore(already a fan) but he sounds like he's got his head screwed on straight. I disagree with those who question his reason for fighting, what better reason to fight than a legacy which is possibly getting away from you WHILST you are still able to change it. He's not that old and still has the opportunity to make waves and cement his career whilst his body allows him to do so. It sounds like he's given up on resting on his laurels, something which until this point has possibly stunted his potential in the sport. What better reason could you ask someone to fight for than that?

It definitely got me more pumped for their fight
